Quaser MV6 (#40) — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Quaser MV6 (#40) that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Quaser or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

At 2,040 mm (80.3") of X travel, the Quaser MV6 (#40) is the longest vertical machining center in the MV line, and in this version it carries a 40 taper spindle listed at 12K ~ 24K. Quaser names large-scale aluminum alloy for aerospace as an application, which is exactly what that combination is for: long parts, high spindle speed, a lot of chips.

The frame is wider as well as longer. Y travel is 800 mm (31.5") and the table is 2,250 x 800 mm (88.6" x 31.5"), where the MV5 (#40) stops at 700 mm (27.6") of Y. Quaser states that the 4 large linear guides of the Y-axis sit on a one piece base, and that the extra wide column is shaped to hold its geometry against the weight of the tool magazine. Z travel is 661 mm (26.0").

Chip handling gets its own paragraph in Quaser's description, and it should. A 6 piece auger system inside the machine works with an external lift up chip conveyor and coolant wash. On a table more than two metres long, aluminium swarf that is not moved out quickly ends up recut.

Table load is 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs), no higher than the shorter MV5 (#40), so the rating per unit of table length drops. The magazine holds 48 tools as standard, each up to 76.2 mm (3") in diameter, 125 mm (4.9") with the neighboring pots empty, and 300 mm (11.8") long.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 2,040 mm (80.3") of X travel and 800 mm (31.5") of Y on a 2,250 x 800 mm (88.6" x 31.5") table
  • 40 taper spindle listed at 12K ~ 24K for high-speed aluminium work
  • 6 piece auger system with external lift up chip conveyor and coolant wash
  • 4 large linear guides on the Y-axis, mounted on a one piece base
  • 48 tools as standard, up to 300 mm (11.8") long

Limitations

  • Table load of 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) is no more than the MV5 (#40) offers on a shorter table
  • Z travel is 661 mm (26.0"), modest next to 2,040 mm (80.3") of X
  • Full-magazine tool diameter is 76.2 mm (3"); the MV6 (#50) is the version for large cutters
  • No power or torque figure accompanies the 12K ~ 24K speed range

Best For

Large aluminum alloy aerospace parts, the application Quaser names Long plates, beams and rails up to 2,040 mm (80.3") Wide parts that need 800 mm (31.5") of Y travel High-volume chip-making where the auger and conveyor system matters

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large is the MV6 (#40) work envelope?

Travels are 2,040 mm (80.3") in X, 800 mm (31.5") in Y and 661 mm (26.0") in Z. The table measures 2,250 x 800 mm (88.6" x 31.5") and is rated for 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs).

02 How does the MV6 handle chips?

Quaser states that the machine internals have a 6 piece auger system, combined with an external lift up chip conveyor and coolant wash. That arrangement is aimed at the large chip volumes of aluminium roughing over a long table.

03 What is special about the MV6 structure?

According to Quaser, the 4 large linear guides of the Y-axis are installed on a one piece base for rigidity and stability, and the extra wide column has a shoulder designed to maintain column rigidity and geometric accuracy against the weight of the tool magazine.

04 What is the difference between the MV6 (#40) and the MV6 (#50)?

The MV6 (#40) has a 40 taper spindle listed at 12K ~ 24K, 48 tools and a tool length limit of 300 mm (11.8"). The MV6 (#50) has a 50 taper spindle listed at 6K ~ 15K, 30 tools and takes tools up to 350 mm (13.8") long and 200 mm (7.9") in diameter with the neighboring pots empty.
