Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Quaser MV4 (#50) that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Fit a 50 taper spindle to a 1,270 mm (50.0") vertical and you get the Quaser MV4 (#50). It is the heavy-cutting version of the MV4: same 1,400 x 700 mm (55.1" x 27.6") table, same 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs) load rating, but a spindle and magazine sized for large cutters.
The tool figures show the intent. A tool can be 125 mm (4.9") in diameter with every pot filled and 200 mm (7.9") when the neighboring pots are empty. Length goes to 350 mm (13.8"). On the MV4 (#40) the equivalent limits are 76.2 mm (3"), 125 mm (4.9") and 280 mm (11.0"). A 200 mm (7.9") face mill and a long boring bar are routine here and impossible there.
Speed is the price. Quaser lists the #50 spindle at 7.5K ~ 15K, where the #40 is 12K ~ 24K. For steel, cast iron and large-diameter tooling that is the right trade; for small end mills in aluminium it is not.
Travels are 1,270 mm (50.0") in X, 700 mm (27.6") in Y and 610 mm (24.0") in Z. Keep the Z figure in mind with long tools: a 350 mm (13.8") tool uses more than half of the Z stroke before the part and fixture are counted. The magazine holds 30 tools as standard, and Quaser's page gives no spindle power or torque, so the roughing capacity of each spindle option has to come from the quotation.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 50 taper spindle on a 1,270 mm (50.0") X travel machine
- Tools up to 200 mm (7.9") in diameter with the neighboring pots empty, 125 mm (4.9") with the magazine full
- Maximum tool length of 350 mm (13.8") for deep boring and long-reach drilling
- Table carries 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs) on 1,400 x 700 mm (55.1" x 27.6")
Limitations
- Spindle speed is listed at 7.5K ~ 15K, well under the 12K ~ 24K of the MV4 (#40)
- Z travel of 610 mm (24.0") is short for 350 mm (13.8") tools on tall parts
- The page states no power or torque, the two figures that matter most on a 50 taper machine
- The standard magazine holds 30 tools, which is modest once large cutters need adjacent pots left empty
Best For
Frequently Asked Questions
01
For bigger tools. The 50 taper version takes tools of 125 mm (4.9") in diameter with a full magazine, 200 mm (7.9") with the neighboring pots empty and 350 mm (13.8") in length. The MV4 (#40) is limited to 76.2 mm (3"), 125 mm (4.9") and 280 mm (11.0"). The work range is identical on both.
02
Quaser lists the maximum spindle speed for the 50 taper column as 7.5K ~ 15K. That is a range of available spindles. No power or torque figure appears on the product page, so ask which spindle is quoted and for its chart.
03
The table is 1,400 x 700 mm (55.1" x 27.6") with a load capacity of 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs). Travels are 1,270 mm (50.0") in X, 700 mm (27.6") in Y and 610 mm (24.0") in Z.
04
The magazine has 30 positions as standard. A tool wider than 125 mm (4.9") needs the pots on either side left empty, up to a maximum of 200 mm (7.9"), so a job with several large cutters has fewer usable positions than the count suggests.
