Onsrud 97M — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Onsrud 97M that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Onsrud or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells

Overview

The Onsrud 97M opens the M-Series, the maker's compact moving-gantry router line. Its table is 97 in (2,464 mm) by 49 in (1,245 mm), the spindle is rated 12 hp (8.9 kW) at up to 24,000 rpm, and the Z-stroke is 11 in (279 mm).

It is the only M-Series table with a single vacuum zone as standard. On a table this size that is rarely a handicap, since one sheet covers it, but small parts cut from offcuts will need gasketing or a custom zone layout. Tool capacity also differs from the larger tables: Onsrud's footnote gives a 10-position changer as standard on its smallest M-Series table size, where the rest of the series lists 12.

The machine is 180 in (4,572 mm) long, 100 in (2,540 mm) wide and 91 in (2,312 mm) high. The frame is welded steel with a dual-drive gantry, and the standard control is a touchscreen FANUC unit; Onsrud also offers its own controller interface written for this series.

Upgrades listed for the series are additional spindles, up to 3, and a 10-position Hide-A-Way tool changer. No larger spindle motor is shown, so a shop that expects to push past 12 hp should look at the maker's heavier lines.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 12 hp (8.9 kW), 24,000 rpm spindle on a table of 97 in (2,464 mm) by 49 in (1,245 mm)
  • 11 in (279 mm) Z-stroke leaves room for fixtures and thicker stock
  • Compact footprint: 180 in (4,572 mm) by 100 in (2,540 mm)
  • Touchscreen FANUC control as standard, with Onsrud's own interface as the alternative

Limitations

  • 1 vacuum zone as standard, the fewest in the M-Series
  • Tool capacity on the smallest table size is 10 positions, not the 12 of the larger tables
  • No spindle power upgrade is listed for the series
  • Table width of 49 in (1,245 mm) rules out wider sheet formats

Best For

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the table size of the Onsrud 97M?

97 in (2,464 mm) in X by 49 in (1,245 mm) in Y, with 1 vacuum zone as standard. The next table up, the 121M, measures 121 in (3,074 mm) by 61 in (1,550 mm) and has 3 zones.

02 How many tools does the 97M hold?

Onsrud lists 12 as the series standard and notes that a 10-position capacity comes standard with its smallest table size. Larger capacity tool changers are optional, and a 10-position Hide-A-Way changer appears among the upgrades.

03 Can the 97M run more than one spindle?

The M-Series upgrade list allows up to 3 spindles. On a table 49 in (1,245 mm) wide the spacing between spindles limits part size when they cut together, so ask Onsrud what the spindle pitch would be on this table.

04 Which control does the 97M use?

The standard control is a touchscreen FANUC controller. Onsrud also offers its own controller interface built for the M-Series. Both drive the same 3-axis moving-gantry machine, so the choice is about operator preference and programming habits.
