How much does the Niigata HN63E-5XW cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN63E-5XW that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The W in Niigata HN63E-5XW stands for a wider machine around the same table. It is a 5-axis horizontal machining center with the 630 mm × 630 mm trunnion pallet of the HN63E-5X, but with travels of 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in X, 1,230 mm (48.4 in) in Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z, and with the heavy spindle of the 800 mm class.
That spindle is the main reason to choose it. The standard unit delivers 1,948 N·m (1,437 lb-ft) at up to 6,000 min-1 with a 30 kW (40.2 hp) motor, more than twice the torque of the smaller 5X machines. Niigata lists two alternatives for this model: a high-power spindle with 1,200 N·m and 37 kW, also at 6,000 min-1, and a high speed spindle of 15,000 min-1 with 350 N·m and 35 kW.
The longer travels buy two things. The workpiece diameter rises to φ1,150 mm, with height unchanged at 800 mm, and there is more room to swing long tools past a tilted part. Load capacity stays at 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). The A axis tilts from 10° to -100°, B rotates 360°, and the NC table indexes at 0.0001°.
One line in the table deserves a second look. Rapid traverse is 20 / 30 / 20 m/min for X, Y and Z, so the two horizontal axes are slower than on the other three 5X models, which run at 30 m/min throughout. For heavy 5-axis roughing this hardly matters. For parts with a lot of air moves it adds up.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,948 N·m (1,437 lb-ft) standard spindle on a 630 mm 5-axis machine
- Travels of 1,200 mm, 1,230 mm and 1,200 mm around a trunnion table
- Three spindle choices: 1,948 N·m standard, 1,200 N·m with 37 kW, or 15,000 min-1
- Workpiece diameter up to φ1,150 mm
- A axis from 10° to -100° with 0.0001° table resolution
Limitations
- X and Z rapids are 20 m/min, slower than the 30 m/min of the HN63E-5X
- Load stays at 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) despite the larger machine
- Workpiece height remains 800 mm

Frequently Asked Questions
01
More travel and a larger spindle. The HN63E-5XW moves 1,200 mm, 1,230 mm and 1,200 mm against 900 mm, 930 mm and 830 mm on the HN63E-5X, takes a φ1,150 mm workpiece, and has a 1,948 N·m spindle as standard. Pallet size and the 1,000 kg load are the same.
02
Niigata's table for the HN63E-5XW and HN80E-5X lists the standard high-power spindle at 6,000 min-1, 1,948 N·m and 30 kW; a second high-power spindle at 6,000 min-1, 1,200 N·m and 37 kW; and a high speed spindle at 15,000 min-1, 350 N·m and 35 kW.
03
The table gives rapid traverse as 20 / 30 / 20 m/min for X, Y and Z (787 / 1,181 / 787 ipm). X and Z are therefore slower than Y, and slower than on the other HN-5X models.
04
Up to φ1,150 mm in swing diameter and 800 mm in height, with a maximum mass of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) on the 630 mm × 630 mm pallet.
