Overview

With X travel of 9,500 - 30,500 mm, the Nicolas Correa VERXA M is a gantry mill for parts too long or too heavy to put on a moving table. The two columns ride on floor-level beds on either side of a fixed table, and the crossbeam carries a ram with 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,500 mm of Z.

Four widths are listed. Y travel is 4,250 / 5,250 / 6,250 / 7,250 mm, and the distance between the columns is 3,750 / 4,750 / 5,750 / 6,750 mm. The table itself is narrower, 2,500 - 3,000 - 3,500 mm wide and 10,000 - 30,000 mm long, rated at 10,000 - 15,000 kg/m2. The gap between table edge and column leaves room for walkways, chip conveyors or parts that overhang the table.

The spindle and head line-up is the VERXA's: 6,000 / 10,000 rpm, 52 / 42 kW and 1,375 / 620 Nm on ISO-50 Big Plus or HSK-100, with the automatic universal head as standard equipment. Under that head, nose to table top is 1,390 / 1,640 / 2,140 mm.

Feed is 30 m/min on all three axes, which for a gantry of this span is the more telling figure. The smaller FOX M gantry lists 25 m/min in X; the far wider HEXA M also lists 25 m/min in X. So the VERXA M is the quick one of the three on long positioning moves, and the middle one for width.

Steel tie-rods inside the crossbeam limit its bending, and the ram is guided symmetrically. A perimeter fence, tool magazines for 30, 40, 60 or 120 tools and an automatic head-changer are on the options list.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • X travel of 9,500 - 30,500 mm over a fixed table
  • Four widths, up to 7,250 mm of Y with 6,750 mm between the columns
  • 30 m/min feed in X, Y and Z, against 25 m/min in X on the FOX M
  • Table rated at 10,000 - 15,000 kg/m2, independent of axis dynamics
  • Crossbeam with internal steel tie-rods; symmetrically guided ram

Limitations

  • Z travel ends at 2,500 mm and head-to-table distance at 2,140 mm, so tall parts need the VERXA MW
  • Only two spindle options, the larger at 52 kW and 1,375 Nm
  • Table width stops at 3,500 mm although the columns stand up to 6,750 mm apart
  • Perimeter fence, tool magazine and head-changer are optional equipment
06

Best For

Long structural parts and machine beds up to 30,500 mm of X Several workpieces set up along one table and machined in sequence Heavy parts that should stay stationary during machining Wide weldments up to 6,750 mm between the columns

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the working envelope of the VERXA M?

Longitudinal travel is 9,500 - 30,500 mm, cross travel 4,250 / 5,250 / 6,250 / 7,250 mm and vertical travel 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,500 mm. The distance between the columns is 3,750 / 4,750 / 5,750 / 6,750 mm, and the distance from the universal head nose to the table top is 1,390 / 1,640 / 2,140 mm.

02 How is the VERXA M different from the VERXA?

The VERXA has a fixed bridge and a moving table with a total load of 30,000 - 50,000 kg. On the VERXA M the bridge is a gantry that travels over a fixed table rated per area, 10,000 - 15,000 kg/m2. The gantry version doubles the longest X travel and adds wider sizes.

03 Where does the VERXA M sit among Correa's gantry machines?

In the middle. The FOX M is the smaller gantry, with Z up to 1,750 mm. The HEXA M is the larger one, with Y from 8,250 mm and a 70 kW spindle. The VERXA M covers the sizes between them and feeds at 30 m/min in all three axes.

04 What load can the VERXA M table take?

The table is rated at 10,000 - 15,000 kg/m2. Its surface is listed as 10,000 - 30,000 mm long and 2,500 - 3,000 - 3,500 mm wide. Because the table is fixed, the rating is a floor loading figure and does not depend on axis acceleration.
