Overview

The Nicolas Correa VERXA is the large moving-table bridge mill of the range, sized above the FOX in every direction that matters for heavy parts. Table load is 30,000 - 50,000 kg, double the 15,000 - 25,000 kg of the FOX. X travel is 6,000 - 15,000 mm, Y is 3,750 / 4,250 / 5,250 mm and Z is 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,500 mm.

A moving table of this size is unusual, and it is the reason to look at the VERXA before a gantry. The bridge is fixed to the foundation, so the cutting loop is short and does not change as the part travels. What it costs is floor space: the table needs room to run its full X travel on both sides of the bridge.

Between the columns there is 3,250 / 3,750 / 4,750 mm. Under the head, the distance from the nose of the universal head to the table top is listed in five steps from 1,140 to 2,140 mm. The table surface is 5,700 - 10,200 mm long and 2,500 - 3,000 mm wide.

Nicolas Correa builds the crossbeam with steel tie-rods inside it to limit bending, and guides the ram symmetrically, centred over the saddle, so that workshop temperature swings do not pull the geometry to one side. All three axes run on linear guides at 30 m/min.

There are two spindle choices: 6,000 rpm with 52 kW and 1,375 Nm, or 10,000 rpm with 42 kW and 620 Nm. Taper is ISO-50 Big Plus or HSK-100. Coolant through the spindle is offered at 17, 36, 70 bar, as an option.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table load of 30,000 - 50,000 kg on a moving table
  • Z travel of 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,500 mm, more than the 1,750 mm maximum of the FOX
  • Crossbeam with internal steel tie-rods and a symmetrically guided ram
  • 30 m/min feed in X, Y and Z on linear guides
  • Up to 4,750 mm between the columns with Y travel of 5,250 mm

Limitations

  • A moving table needs free floor length on both sides of the bridge for 6,000 - 15,000 mm of X
  • Only two spindle options are listed, topping out at 52 kW
  • The longest table, 10,200 mm, is shorter than the longest X travel, so check the pairing offered
  • Tool magazine, head-changer and through-spindle coolant are optional equipment

Best For

Heavy single parts between 30,000 and 50,000 kg Large dies, machine beds and welded frames Work needing a fixed bridge for consistent geometry along X Parts up to 4,750 mm wide between the columns

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How heavy a part can the VERXA table carry?

Maximum load on the table is listed as 30,000 - 50,000 kg, depending on the table selected. The table surface runs 5,700 - 10,200 mm in length and 2,500 - 3,000 mm in width. This is a total load, not a figure per square metre.

02 What are the travels of the VERXA?

Longitudinal travel is 6,000 - 15,000 mm, cross travel 3,750 / 4,250 / 5,250 mm and vertical travel 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,500 mm. The distance between columns is 3,250 / 3,750 / 4,750 mm for the three Y sizes, in the order the table gives them.

03 How does the VERXA compare with the FOX?

Both are bridge-type machines with a moving table. The FOX lists X travel of 3,000 - 8,000 mm and a table load of 15,000 - 25,000 kg. The VERXA lists 6,000 - 15,000 mm and 30,000 - 50,000 kg, with more Z as well. The VERXA uses linear guides on all three axes.

04 Which spindles can the VERXA be ordered with?

Two are listed: programmable speed of 6,000 / 10,000 rpm with maximum power of 52 / 42 kW and maximum torque of 1,375 / 620 Nm. The taper is ISO-50 Big Plus or HSK-100. An automatic universal head is standard equipment, and a five-axis contouring head is available.
