We do not have a price for the Messer MPC2000 MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Messer MPC2000 MC is the machining version of the MPC2000 gantry: a plate cutting machine with a CAT 50 spindle, a 24 tool rotary changer and a chip extraction system built in. It drills up to 2.5 in (64 mm) in diameter, taps up to 1 1/2 in (38 mm) and can mill. Cutting widths run from 12 ft to 28 ft (3.7 m to 8.5 m) and cutting lengths up to 200 ft (61.0 m).
Messer's description is two machines in one. Internal features are drilled, tapped, countersunk, counterbored or milled, and the outside profile is then cut by plasma or oxyfuel, so the part comes off complete. For that the drives are much larger than on the cutting-only gantry: twin 21 hp (15.7 kW) AC drives on the X-axis and one on the Y-axis, against 6 hp (4.5 kW) drives on the MPC2000.
Chips are the practical issue on a burn table, and this machine deals with them directly. A high power vacuum collects the swarf in a hopper for recycling, the extraction system can sit on the right or the left, and a dust collector is required for it. Paired with the Slagger self-cleaning table the work surface stays clear between plates.
As a cutting machine it matches its sibling. Plate from 26 ga. to 8 in (203 mm), accuracy of +/- 0.010 in (0.25 mm) with +/- 0.003 in (0.08 mm) repeatability in any 72 in (1,829 mm) move, positioning up to 1,400 ipm (35.6 m/min) and contouring up to 400 ipm (10.2 m/min). Optional precision plasma goes to 800 amps with up to four straight torches, oxyfuel to eight straight torches, and Deltae or Global Infinity rotators bevel from +45° through -45°. Milling is listed as 2.5 dimension and is an option.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- CAT 50 spindle drilling up to 2.5 in (64 mm) and tapping up to 1 1/2 in (38 mm) diameter
- 24 tool rotary changer as a standard feature
- Chip vacuum system collects swarf in a hopper for recycling
- Twin 21 hp (15.7 kW) AC drives on the X-axis
- Cutting widths from 12 ft to 28 ft (3.7 m to 8.5 m) and lengths up to 200 ft (61.0 m)
Limitations
- A dust collector is required for chip extraction
- Narrowest cutting width is 12 ft, where the MPC2000 starts at 8 ft
- Milling is an option and limited to 2.5 dimension work
- Drill diameter stops at 2.5 in (64 mm); the TMC4500 DB drills to 4 in (102 mm)
- Plasma, oxyfuel torches and bevel rotators are optional equipment

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It drills up to 2.5 in (64 mm) in diameter and taps up to 1 1/2 in (38 mm) on a CAT 50 spindle, and it can countersink and counterbore. Milling of internal features in X-Y is offered as 2.5 dimension milling. A 24 tool rotary changer is a standard feature.
02
The MPC2000 is a cutting gantry on which a CAT 40 drill is an option, with drilling to 2 in (51 mm). The MPC2000 MC has the CAT 50 spindle, the 24 tool changer and chip extraction as standard, twin 21 hp (15.7 kW) X-axis drives, and starts at a 12 ft cutting width.
03
By a high power vacuum and collection system. The swarf is collected in a hopper so the steel chips can be recycled. The extraction system can be on the right or left, and Messer states that a dust collector is required for chip extraction.
04
Plasma and oxyfuel, both as options. Precision plasma goes up to 800 amps with up to four straight plasma torches, and up to eight straight oxyfuel torches can be fitted. Plate from 26 ga. to 8 in (203 mm) thick can be cut in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
