Overview
The Mazak Quick Turn 350MY is a large-frame CNC turning center with milling and Y-axis capability, built for shops that need to process bigger parts with done-in-one efficiency. With a 12-inch chuck and 30 kW (40 hp) spindle, the QT-350MY bridges the gap between standard mid-size lathes and the heavy-duty Slant Turn line.
Max turning diameter is 420 mm (16.54 in) over a 710 mm (27.95 in) swing. Depending on bed length, turning length ranges from 604 mm (23.8 in) on the short bed to 2,106 mm (82.92 in) on the long bed. The main spindle runs up to 3,300 RPM through an A2-8 nose, and the built-in motor design eliminates belt vibration for better surface finish.
The Y-axis provides 120 mm of off-center travel for milling features that sit away from the part centerline. The 12-position turret runs live tools at up to 4,500 RPM with VDI or bolt-on tooling. With 30 kW behind the main spindle, the QT-350MY can take aggressive cuts in steel, stainless, and nickel alloys without slowing down the feed rate.
MAZATROL SmoothG runs the control side with its combination of conversational and G-code programming. The 15-inch touchscreen display makes program editing and monitoring straightforward, and the 3D machining simulation lets you verify toolpaths before cutting metal.
The QT-350MY competes with the Okuma LB3000 EX II MY, Doosan Puma 3100MY, and Haas ST-35Y. It costs more than the Haas but delivers stronger milling performance and a more sophisticated control. The multiple bed length options make it unusually versatile, handling everything from short chucking work to 80-inch shaft jobs on the same platform. Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Multiple bed lengths from 23.8 to 82.92 inches of turning length make this one of the most versatile large-frame turning centers available
- 30 kW built-in motor spindle eliminates belt vibration and delivers strong torque for heavy roughing in tough materials
- Y-axis with 120 mm travel enables off-center milling work that pure C-axis machines cannot handle
- 12-inch chuck handles larger diameter chucking work while still fitting in a standard production floor layout
- MAZATROL SmoothG control with 3D simulation and conversational programming reduces setup time on short-run jobs
- Live tooling capability at 4,500 RPM covers drilling, tapping, and milling without moving parts to a separate VMC
Limitations
- Starting around $180K new, the MY configuration carries a significant premium over the base Quick Turn 350
- Long-bed versions require substantial floor space, and the machine weight at over 7,200 kg demands proper foundation
- 4,500 RPM milling spindle speed is adequate for steel and stainless but limits productivity on aluminum milling operations
- No sub-spindle option on the MY variant means backworking still requires a second operation or stepping up to an INTEGREX

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New pricing runs $180,000-$280,000 depending on bed length and options. The long-bed version costs significantly more than the short bed.
02
Three bed lengths are offered: short bed with 604 mm (23.8 in) turning length, medium bed with 1,594 mm (62.72 in), and long bed with 2,106 mm (82.92 in).
03
The Mazak delivers stronger milling capability, better spindle torque for heavy cutting, and a more sophisticated control. The Haas costs 30-40% less. For heavy-duty production, the Mazak justifies the premium.
04
Yes. The long-bed version offers 2,106 mm (82.92 in) of turning length with tailstock support. A steady rest is available for supporting flexible workpieces.
05
The QT-350M has milling and C-axis but no Y-axis. The QT-350MY adds Y-axis with 120 mm of off-center travel for milling features that do not sit on the part centerline.
