Overview
The Mazak INTEGREX i-H is the horizontal-spindle variant of Mazak’s INTEGREX i-Series, designed for shops that need horizontal machining center chip evacuation combined with full multi-tasking capability. The i-H rotates the milling head into a horizontal orientation, giving gravity-assisted chip clearing and better access for heavy workpieces loaded by crane.
The lineup mirrors the standard i-Series: i-100H (6-inch chuck), i-200H (8-inch), i-250H (8-inch with extended Y-axis), i-350H (10-inch), and i-450H (12-inch). Max machining diameter runs 600-670 mm (23.62-26.38 in). Machining lengths range from 590 mm to 2,500 mm (98.43 in). Y-axis is 210 mm on the smaller models, 300 mm (11.81 in) on i-250H through i-450H.
The compact milling spindle is 17% shorter than conventional, reducing interference. Standard ball screw core cooling on X, Y, Z axes. Milling spindle runs to 12,000 RPM (20,000 RPM optional) with HSK-A63 tooling, power from 12-24 kW by model. B-axis provides 240 degrees with roller cam drive. Each model comes in base, -S, and -ST configurations on MAZATROL SmoothAi.
The horizontal orientation particularly benefits stringy chip materials like stainless, Inconel, and titanium where chip clearing is critical for unattended operation. New i-H machines range from $270,000 (i-100H) to $520,000+ (i-450H ST). Specs sourced from Mazak published data.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Horizontal milling spindle provides gravity-assisted chip evacuation critical for unattended stainless, Inconel, and titanium work
- Compact milling head 17% shorter reduces interference and expands usable envelope
- Standard ball screw core cooling on all three axes maintains thermal stability
- Full 6 to 12-inch chuck range with -S/-ST variants for platform standardization
- 240-degree B-axis with roller cam drive delivers same accuracy as standard i-Series
- 12,000 RPM HSK-A63 milling spindle up to 24 kW for machining center-level cutting
- Horizontal orientation simplifies crane loading of heavy workpieces
Limitations
- 10-15% price premium over equivalent standard i-Series for the horizontal configuration
- Larger footprint than vertical standard i-Series for the same machining capacity
- Programming differs slightly from standard i-Series; operators need adjustment time
- i-100H/i-200H limited to 210 mm Y-axis; step up to i-250H for 300 mm
- Lower used market availability makes pre-owned i-H machines harder to find

Frequently Asked Questions
01
i-100H starts around $270K, i-200H $290K, i-250H $340K, i-350H $400K, i-450H $460K base. -S/-ST add $50K-$150K. Loaded configs exceed $520K.
02
Primary difference is horizontal vs vertical milling spindle orientation. i-H gets gravity chip evacuation. Same machining capacity, spindle specs, and B-axis at same model size. i-H costs 10-15% more with larger footprint.
03
When chip evacuation is critical (stainless, Inconel, titanium), when crane-loading heavy parts, or when running extended unattended shifts where chip packing could cause crashes. Standard i-Series is better value when chips are not a concern.
04
No. i-H is horizontal spindle; i NEO is the current-gen vertical spindle. Both use compact head and SmoothAi but layout is fundamentally different. i-H is for applications where horizontal chip flow matters.
05
Yes. Horizontal orientation suits gantry loaders and robotic cells. Supports bar feeders on smaller models and Mazak PALLETECH integration on larger models. SmoothAi includes automation interfaces.
