Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX e-670H is a large horizontal multi-tasking machine: a turning spindle paired with a tilting B-axis milling spindle, sized for long shaft work rather than chucked parts. It is built on three bed lengths, designated 3000U, 4000U and 6000U, giving Z-axis travel of 3,122 mm, 4,138 mm or 6,170 mm (123, 163 or 243 in). That is the specification that defines the machine. A 6,170 mm Z stroke means multi-metre shafts, rolls and screw components can be turned, milled and drilled without breaking the setup.

Y-axis travel is 670 mm (26 in), against 1,025 mm (40 in) on X. That much off-centre reach turns the milling spindle into a genuine machining centre head: off-axis bores, flats and pockets well away from the turning axis are reachable rather than something to fixture for separately. The milling spindle turns to 10,000 rpm and is rated 37 kW (50 HP) with 260 N·m, or 30 kW (40 HP) and 191 N·m continuous, through BT50 tooling. The turning spindle is the heavy end at 45 kW (60 HP), 37 kW (50 HP) continuous, running to 1,600 rpm on the 3000U and 4000U beds and 1,000 rpm on the 6000U, where diameters are larger and surface speed rather than rpm is the limit.

The 40-station magazine takes tools up to Φ135 mm (Φ5 in), Φ260 mm (Φ10 in) with the adjacent pockets left empty, 500 mm (20 in) long and 30 kg (66 lb). That is a magazine specified for large boring bars and heavy face mills rather than a deep library of small tooling, so tool selection is a real planning constraint on high-mix work. The B axis indexes in 0.0001° increments. Rapids are 40,000 mm/min (1,575 IPM) on X and Y, while Z falls from 40,000 to 30,000 to 18,000 mm/min as the bed gets longer.

Installed weight runs from 31,000 kg on the 3000U to 44,500 kg (98,105 lb) on the 6000U, and the longest version occupies 12,173 × 5,100 mm (479 × 201 in) of floor at 3,886 mm (153 in) tall. Tailstock thrust is 30 kN on the shorter beds and 70 kN (15,736 lb) on the 6000U, which also swaps the MT No.6 centre for a No.80 metric centre: the long machine is specified throughout for heavier, longer between-centres work.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Z-axis travel reaches 6,170 mm (243 in) on the 6000U bed, so multi-metre shafts, rolls and screws can be turned, milled and drilled without breaking the setup
  • 670 mm (26 in) of Y travel against 1,025 mm (40 in) on X gives the milling spindle genuine off-centre reach for bores, flats and pockets away from the turning axis
  • The turning spindle is rated 45 kW (60 HP) peak and 37 kW (50 HP) continuous, which is real sustained power for heavy work at large diameters
  • The milling spindle is a machining-centre head rather than driven tooling: 10,000 rpm, 37 kW (50 HP) and 260 N·m through BT50
  • B axis positions in 0.0001° increments, so tool orientation is rarely the constraint on angled or off-axis features
  • Three bed lengths - 3000U, 4000U and 6000U - let the machine be sized to the work instead of bought oversize

Limitations

  • The 40-station magazine is specified for large tooling rather than a deep library: tools cap at 500 mm (20 in) long and 30 kg (66 lb), and Φ135 mm diameter unless adjacent pockets are left empty
  • Installed weight runs from 31,000 kg on the 3000U to 44,500 kg (98,105 lb) on the 6000U, and the longest version takes 12,173 x 5,100 mm of floor at 3,886 mm (153 in) tall
  • Main spindle speed drops to 1,000 rpm on the 6000U bed against 1,600 rpm on the shorter machines, so the longest configuration is also the slowest at small diameters
  • Z rapid traverse falls from 40,000 mm/min on the 3000U to 30,000 and then 18,000 mm/min as the bed lengthens, adding non-cutting time on the long machine
  • Tailstock thrust is 30 kN (6,744 lb) on the 3000U and 4000U beds; only the 6000U carries the 70 kN tailstock and the No.80 metric centre

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How long a part can the INTEGREX e-670H machine?

That depends entirely on the bed. Z-axis travel is 3,122 mm (123 in) on the 3000U, 4,138 mm (163 in) on the 4000U and 6,170 mm (243 in) on the 6000U, with second-spindle W travel of 2,879 mm, 3,890 mm and 5,054 mm respectively. Choosing a bed length is the first decision on this machine, because the rest of the specification is largely common across the three.

02 How much real milling can the e-670H do?

The milling spindle is rated 37 kW (50 HP) and 260 N·m to 10,000 rpm, with 30 kW (40 HP) and 191 N·m continuous, through BT50 tooling. With 670 mm (26 in) of Y travel and a B axis resolving to 0.0001°, it will cut off-axis bores, flats and pockets well away from the turning centreline. Size sustained cuts against the continuous rating rather than the peak.

03 What are the tooling limits on the 40-station magazine?

Maximum tool diameter is Φ135 mm (Φ5 in), or Φ260 mm (Φ10 in) if the adjacent pockets are left empty, with tools up to 500 mm (20 in) long and 30 kg (66 lb). Those figures accommodate large boring bars and heavy face mills, which is what the machine is for. The trade-off is that 40 pockets fills quickly on high-mix work, so tool selection becomes a real planning constraint.

04 What does installing an e-670H involve?

Machine weight runs from 31,000 kg on the 3000U to 44,500 kg (98,105 lb) on the 6000U. Floor footprints range from 8,465 x 5,100 mm to 12,173 x 5,100 mm (479 x 201 in), at 3,886 mm (153 in) tall. The longest configuration needs a dedicated bay, an engineered foundation and crane access along its full length, so plan the building before the machine.
