Machitech Silver Cut 6x20

The Machitech Silver Cut 6x20 is the top of the Silver Cut line, the widest bed at the longest length. Its processing range is printed as 78 in - 252 in (1,980 x 6,400 mm). The table carries a workpiece of 7,350 lbs (3,330 kg), more than any other Silver Cut.

This is as far as Machitech takes the compact self-contained table with V-rail motion. The next step up in its plasma range is a different kind of machine, the Gold Cut on floor-mounted rails or the unitized Diamond Cut, both of which go to 10 x 40 ft. So the 6x20 suits the fabricator who wants a large bed for high-definition cutting of sheet and plate to 1.5 in (38 mm) and has no plan to go thicker.

It is a downdraft table only, with drawers for parts and slag. The machine is 107 in (2,720 mm) wide, 290 in (7,380 mm) long and weighs 5,680 lbs (2,575 kg) without the plasma source. Interestingly, the length is the same as that of the Silver Cut 5x20; the two differ in width and capacity.

Motion figures are unchanged from the smaller sizes: servo motors on every axis, 600 ipm (15,240 mm/min) maximum cutting speed, 1,000 ipm (25,400 mm/min) rapid traverse, 0.003 in (0.07 mm) positional accuracy, 0.002 in (0.05 mm) repeatability. Z-axis clearance is 7.5 in (190 mm). Plasma amperage is 170A, 200A, 45-125A. On a bed this size the optional oxyfuel torch and the pipe cutting attachment for 1.6 to 8 in diameter make the table more of a general cutting station.
