Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Machitech Beamcut BC50 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Machitech Beamcut BC50 is a robotic plasma cell for structural steel. A FANUC 6-axis robotic arm carries a Hypertherm XPR torch around beams, channels, HSS, angles and flats, and cuts holes, slots, copes and bevels and the part to length in one pass. The BC50 is the larger of two models, taking beams up to 48 x 16 in (1,219 x 406 mm).
Capacity by profile is spelled out in the table. Channel shares the beam limit. T beam is Min 4 x 2 in (102 x 51 mm); max 39 x 16 in (991 x 406 mm), and HSS and angle both top out at 16 x 16 in (406 x 406 mm). Flat bar can be as wide as the beam, though the maximum size requires XPR plasma. Material thickness is up to 3 in (76 mm), weld preparation bevels are cut at 52°, and the shortest piece the cell handles is 48 in (1,219 mm). Maximum length is customizable because the conveyors are built to the shop.
Two things are available here and not on the BC25. The first is size. The second is drilling and machining, listed as optional on the BC50: an optional 3-spindle drilling and milling unit for work that calls for mechanically drilled holes. Machitech states that Beamcut meets AISC and CISC requirements for thermally cut holes in structural bolted connections, so the spindle unit is for the jobs where a specification still asks for a drill.
Measurement is automatic. A photo-laser device profiles each piece and positions the cut, and a mobile measuring unit tracks length along the infeed conveyor. Programs come from NC1, DSTV or 3D CAD files with automatic cut pathing, and the Beamcut Suite software simulates every robot movement before the start. Cross transfers, pipe cutting and a dust collector are options. Cutting and marking on 4 sides is standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Beam and channel: Min 4 x 4 in (102 x 102 mm); max 48 x 16 in (1,219 x 406 mm) for beam. HSS and angle go to 16 x 16 in (406 x 406 mm), and T beam to 39 x 16 in (991 x 406 mm). Thickness is up to 3 in (76 mm).
02
Size and drilling. The Beamcut BC25 takes beams up to 30 x 12 in (762 x 305 mm), and its table lists drilling and machining as not available. On the BC50 drilling and machining is optional, with a 3-spindle drilling and milling unit.
03
Machitech states that Beamcut meets AISC and CISC requirements for thermally cut holes in structural bolted connections. The Beamcut Suite software also flags holes outside the plasma maker's specification and swaps them to a layout mark.
04
NC1, DSTV and 3D CAD files, imported directly, with automatic cut pathing. The software simulates every robot movement, cut line and bevel before the operator starts, and can simulate a whole folder of parts at once.
