Price estimate
We do not have a price for the LVD PPEB 400/51 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
On a 5,100 mm (200.8 in) bed, the LVD PPEB 400/51 applies 4,000 kN and weighs 34,000 kg (74,956 lb). It is a five-metre plate machine with a surprisingly low table.
The working height is 970 mm (38.2 in). On the PPEB 320/51, the lighter machine of this length, it is 1,035 mm. An operator positioning heavy blanks against the backgauge feels that difference, and so does anyone designing a roller table or supports to feed the brake.
Both machines have 4,270 mm (168.1 in) between the uprights. Stroke and opening are also shared, at 300 mm (11.8 in) and 570 mm (22.4 in), as is the 200 mm (7.9 in) table at 2,500 kN/m.
The stronger machine is the slower. Working speed here is 11 mm/s with a 100 mm/s approach and a 120 mm/s return. The motor is 37 kW; the tank holds 500 L at 290 bar.
Five metres at 4,000 kN is used for structural sections, long wear liners, vessel plates and the main members of heavy vehicles. For such parts the PPEB's open specification is useful, because the handling arrangement differs in every shop. LVD supplies the interfaces: front supports on guide rails, programmable sheet followers, a robot connection, and tandem operation for parts longer than one bed.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 4,000 kN across 5,100 mm (200.8 in)
- Working height of 970 mm (38.2 in), below the 1,035 mm of the PPEB 320/51
- 4,270 mm (168.1 in) between the uprights
- Handling options to suit the shop: supports, followers, robot
- 570 mm (22.4 in) opening with a 300 mm (11.8 in) stroke
Limitations
- 34,000 kg (74,956 lb) and a foundation to clarify
- 11 mm/s in the bend, against 14 mm/s on the PPEB 320/51
- Clear width well short of the bed length
- Crowning standard only on PPEB-5 and PPEB-8 versions

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The PPEB 320/51 has 3,200 kN, a 14 mm/s working speed, a 1,035 mm working height and weighs 29,000 kg. This model has 4,000 kN, 11 mm/s, 970 mm and 34,000 kg. Frame opening, stroke and table are the same.
02
970 mm (38.2 in), the figure LVD lists for all its 4,000 kN PPEB machines, including the six-metre PPEB 400/61.
03
Front supports on guide rails, two programmable sheet followers, a robot interface and tandem configurations. Each is optional and chosen to suit the parts.
04
290 bar, a 37 kW motor and 500 L of oil. LVD machines the cylinders from solid steel billet and uses hardened, precision-ground forged pistons.
