Price estimate
We do not have a price for the LVD PPEB 170/51 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The first five-metre PPEB is the LVD PPEB 170/51, with a 5,100 mm (200.8 in) working length and 1,700 kN. It is also the only five-metre PPEB with a 22 kW motor.
That makes it the low-power route to a long bed. The PPEB 220/51 needs 37 kW. For a shop whose long parts are light, and whose long machine will run a few hours a day, the smaller drive is a sensible economy. The ram approaches at 130 mm/s, works at 15 mm/s and returns at 160 mm/s, and the tank holds 350 L at 285 bar.
The structure is anything but light. LVD lists 19,500 kg (42,989 lb), against 15,000 kg for the PPEB 170/42, because a five-metre ram and table must be deep to stay straight. Between the uprights there are 4,550 mm (179.1 in), and the bed stands at a working height of 1,020 mm (40.2 in).
Straight beams are half the answer. The other half is crowning: LVD's wedge system is machined for the individual machine, accounts for the full length of the bed, and is standard on the PPEB-5 and PPEB-8. On a five-metre PPEB it should be considered part of the machine.
Stroke is 200 mm (7.9 in), open height and gap 400 mm (15.7 in), table 120 mm (4.7 in) wide at 2,000 kN/m.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 5,100 mm (200.8 in) working length on a 22 kW motor
- 4,550 mm (179.1 in) between the uprights
- Wedge crowning machined for the full bed length
- 160 mm/s return and 15 mm/s working speed
- Options for sheet followers, front supports and tandem operation
Limitations
- 19,500 kg (42,989 lb), well above the 15,000 kg of the PPEB 170/42
- 1,700 kN is light for a five-metre bend
- Working height of 1,020 mm (40.2 in)
- Crowning is standard only on PPEB-5 and PPEB-8

Frequently Asked Questions
01
22 kW, with a 350 L oil tank at 285 bar. The PPEB 220/51, the next five-metre model, has a 37 kW motor and works at 21 mm/s.
02
LVD gives no explanation, only the figure. The PPEB 170/42 weighs 15,000 kg on a 4,270 mm bed. A longer span needs deeper ram and table beams to hold the same straightness under load.
03
LVD says PPEB machines up to 400 ton/4m can be installed at floor level. This machine is longer than that limit, so the foundation requirement should be checked with LVD.
04
4,550 mm (179.1 in), with a 400 mm (15.7 in) gap in the side frames for parts up to the full 5,100 mm (200.8 in).
