How much does the KRC Velocity VTC-20 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the KRC Velocity VTC-20 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The KRC Velocity VTC-20 is the largest lathe in the Velocity series: a 2,000 mm (78.7 in) table, 2,400 mm (94.5 in) maximum turning diameter, 2,500 mm (98.4 in) swing and a table load of 13,000 kg (28,660 lb).
It delivers the highest table torque in the range, 23,270 N-m (17,163 lb-ft), the figure KRC quotes when it describes the 2-speed gearbox table drive. The main motor is the same 45/37 kW (60/50 HP) rating listed for the Velocity VTC-16, so the extra torque comes with a lower speed range: the table runs at 1 - 200 rpm.
Turning height does not grow with the table. It stays at 1,600 mm (63 in), and ram travel at 1,000 mm (39.4 in), both the same as on the Velocity VTC-16. What changes is reach across the table: X travel is -250 mm (-9.84 in) to 1,380 mm (54.33 in). Maximum cutting force is 25,000 N.
Plan the installation around the size. The machine weighs 42,000 kg (92,594 lb), is 5,100 mm (200.8 in) wide and 5,740 mm (226 in) high. KRC says all three models are offered with the Live Spindle option, but the live-spindle table on its page has no column headed for this size, so ask for the live spindle speed, torque and motor figures in writing. Standard equipment includes a 12 tool ATC (BT 50 or CAT 50) and a Fanuc System 0i-TF or Siemens 828 control.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Highest table torque of the series: 23,270 N-m (17,163 lb-ft)
- Turns up to 2,400 mm (94.5 in) in diameter with a 2,500 mm (98.4 in) swing
- Table load of 13,000 kg (28,660 lb) on a 2,000 mm (78.7 in) table
- X travel reaches 1,380 mm (54.33 in) on the positive side and 250 mm past centre
- Hydrostatic ram and programmable crossrail, as on the smaller Velocity models
Limitations
- Table speed is limited to 1 - 200 rpm, the slowest of the three sizes
- Turning height stays at 1,600 mm (63 in), no more than the Velocity VTC-16
- At 42,000 kg (92,594 lb) and 5,740 mm (226 in) high it needs a heavy foundation and a tall bay
- KRC's page prints no live spindle figures under this model's name, and the length row is printed inconsistently

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum turning diameter is 2,400 mm (94.5 in) and maximum swing is 2,500 mm (98.4 in), on a 2,000 mm (78.7 in) table. Maximum turning height is 1,600 mm (63 in) and the table carries up to 13,000 kg (28,660 lb).
02
KRC lists 23,270 N-m (17,163 lb-ft) of maximum table torque from a 45/37 kW (60/50 HP) main motor through a 2-speed gearbox. Table speed is 1 - 200 rpm, so the machine is geared for heavy cuts on large diameters instead of high surface speed on small ones.
03
KRC states that all three Velocity models are offered with the Live Spindle option, marked by a C after the model number, and lists C-axis with live milling and an 18 tool ATC as optional accessories. Its live-spindle table does not carry a column headed for this size, so the live spindle figures have to be requested from KRC.
04
The machine weighs 42,000 kg (92,594 lb). KRC lists a width of 5,100 mm (200.8 in) and a height of 5,740 mm (226 in). The length row for this model is printed with values that do not agree, so get the layout drawing before planning the foundation.
