Overview

The Haas ST-25 is a two-axis turning center that shares the ST-20's work envelope and carries a bigger spindle package: a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, 3 in (76 mm) of bar capacity and 30 hp (22.4 kW) delivering 300 ft-lbf (407 N·m) at 500 rpm. Turning capacity is 13 in (330 mm) in diameter by 22.5 in (572 mm) long.

Set the two side by side and the envelope is identical: the ST-20 has the same 21 in (533 mm) swing, the same 8.4 in (213 mm) of X and the same Z stroke. The difference is at the headstock. The ST-20 is rated 20 hp (14.9 kW) and 150 ft-lbf (203 N·m) with 2.5 in (64 mm) of bar capacity, so the ST-25 has twice the torque and passes bar half an inch larger through the same 3.5 in (88.9 mm) bore. It gives up top speed for that: 3,400 rpm against the ST-20's 4,000 rpm.

The standard turret is listed as a 12-station BOT type taking OD and ID tools in any combination, with 4 in (102 mm) behind it for boring bars. Two other turret styles appear in the table and both shrink the work: 11.75 in (298 mm) of turning diameter with a BMT65 turret and 11.8 in (300 mm) with a VDI turret.

Haas lists the sub-spindle as an option. Its rows describe a 5.3 in (135 mm) chuck on an A2-5 nose, 6,000 rpm on its own, 3,400 rpm synchronised with the main spindle, and a 1.5 in (38.1 mm) bore. The parts catcher, automatic parts loader, automatic door and tailstock are options too. WiFi is standard, and Haas says this generation has new castings and an 11% smaller footprint than its predecessor.
