Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Johnford ST-80D that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Johnford ST-80D introduces the largest spindle of the standard ST table: a 185 mm (7.3 in) bore with 165 mm (6.5 in) of bar capacity on a 240 mm (9.4 in) bearing, over 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Z travel.
The D spindle keeps the A2-15 nose and the 510 mm (20.1 in) chuck of the C version, so chucks and jaws interchange. What changes is everything behind the nose. The bore grows from 152 mm (6 in) on the ST-80C, the bearing from 200 mm (7.9 in), and the speed drops to 1,000 rpm.
The bore row has a second figure: with the geared headstock the bore is 176 mm (6.9 in). So the gear-driven option costs some through-hole. Both headstock types are listed at the same 1,000 rpm, which is not the case for the C spindle.
Power is 30 / 37 kW (40.2 / 49.6 hp) with 37 / 45 kW (49.6 / 60.3 hp) optional. The frame is the 920 mm (36.2 in) swing long bed with 7 kW axis motors and a Ø200 mm (7.9 in) MT#7 tailstock quill. Machine weight is 15,500 kg (34,100 lb), and the tailstock travels 1,700 mm (66.9 in).
