Jet Edge EDGE X3-HR — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Jet Edge EDGE X3-HR that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Jet Edge or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Jet Edge EDGE X3-HR is a 3-axis high rail gantry waterjet built around head count. With the optional spreader bar on its Z carriage it carries up to 12 cutting heads, so a dozen identical parts leave the table in one cycle.

High rail means the gantry runs on elevated rails beside the tank instead of on the tank frame. Jet Edge gives two reasons for the layout: the work envelope is easier to reach, and the motion components sit above the wet, abrasive part of the process. Linear bearings on hardened precision ground ways carry the axes, behind labyrinth seals under positive air pressure, and direct-couple AC brushless servo motors with absolute encoders drive the ball screws.

Each head on the spreader bar is a Sub Z that can be programmed independently. Waterjet and abrasive heads can be mixed on the same bar, spacing is set by hand or automatically with a digital readout, and a motorized Sub Z adds 3 in (76 mm) of its own travel. That last option matters on material that is not flat, since one common Z height rarely suits every head across a wide sheet. The main Z carriage has 12 in (304 mm) of vertical travel, with 18 in and 24 in (457 mm and 610 mm) carriages optional.

Positional accuracy is stated as ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) over 12 in (304 mm) per axis, with ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) bidirectional repeatability. The controller is the Aquavision iQ with IGEMS CAD/CAM. No table size or pump is fixed on the page: pumps come from the HERO intensifier line, and every extra head adds to the flow the pump must supply. Shuttle systems and conveyors for loading are on the option list, which suits the production work this machine is meant for.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Optional spreader bar carries up to 12 cutting heads for identical parts in one cycle
  • High rail layout keeps motion components out of the process environment and opens access to the work envelope
  • Sub Z heads are independently programmable, and waterjet and abrasive heads can be mixed
  • Z carriage travel of 12 in (304 mm), with 18 in and 24 in (457 mm and 610 mm) optional
  • Direct-couple AC brushless servo motors with absolute encoders

Limitations

  • 3-axis only: no bevel cutting, which is what the EDGE X5-HR is for
  • The spreader bar, motorized Sub Z travel and automatic head positioning are all options
  • No table size, cutting speed or pump is published; multi-head use needs a pump sized for the total flow
  • Nesting with common line cutting is an extra to the standard IGEMS CAD/CAM
06

Best For

Multi-head production of identical parts, up to 12 at a time Water only cutting of gasket, foam and rubber with several heads Lines fed by shuttle tables or conveyors Thick or tall work needing 18 in or 24 in (457 mm or 610 mm) of Z travel

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How many cutting heads can the EDGE X3-HR carry?

Up to 12, mounted on the optional spreader bar attached to the Z carriage. Each is an independently programmable Sub Z. Waterjet and abrasive waterjet heads can be mixed, and positioning along the bar is manual or automatic with a digital readout.

02 What does high rail mean on this machine?

The gantry runs on raised rails. Jet Edge lists two results: an easy-access work envelope, and motion components protected from the harsh process environment. The catch tank is isolated, and critical bearing components are protected with labyrinth seals and positive air pressure.

03 How much Z travel does the EDGE X3-HR have?

The motorized Z carriage has 12 in (304 mm) of vertical travel. Carriages with 18 in and 24 in (457 mm and 610 mm) of travel are optional. A motorized Sub Z on the spreader bar adds 3 in (76 mm) of travel for an individual head.

04 Which pump runs the EDGE X3-HR?

The page lists the full line of HERO intensifier pumps as the configuration option and does not fix one model. With several heads cutting at once the pump has to supply all of them, so pump size is decided together with the number of heads.
