How much does the Jet Edge EDGE X5-HR cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Jet Edge EDGE X5-HR that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
On the Jet Edge EDGE X5-HR a 5-axis bevel head hangs from a high rail gantry. The head is the Permalign Arrow SL for abrasive cutting, or the OmniJet Arrow SL for water only work, and it cuts bevels to 60° without taper.
Why put a tilting head on raised rails? A 5-axis head swings through space that a 3-axis head never enters, and fixtured parts stand taller than flat plate. Jet Edge describes the result of the overhead layout as an easy-access work envelope with the motion components kept out of the process environment. Integrated fixturing is offered as an option for accuracy and quick part changes, which points at contoured and repeat work and not only at plate.
The servo driven Z carriage has 12 in (304 mm) of vertical travel, and a carriage with 18 in (457 mm) is optional. Motion runs on adjustable pre-loaded anti-backlash recirculating ball screws, linear bearings on hardened precision ground ways, and direct-couple AC brushless servo motors with absolute encoders. Stated accuracy is ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) linear over 12 in (304 mm) per axis, ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) bidirectional repeatability and ±0.003 in (±0.076 mm) squareness and straightness over 24 in (608 mm).
The Aquavision iQ controller and IGEMS CAD/CAM handle control and programming. Laser surface mapping and a contact height sensor are options, as are dual mini hoppers for changing garnet quickly, light curtains and a lights-out package. Table size and pump are chosen in configuration; the pump comes from the HERO intensifier line.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 5-axis Permalign Arrow SL head cuts bevels to 60° taper free
- High rail gantry gives an easy-access work envelope and keeps motion components out of the process environment
- Servo driven Z carriage with 12 in (304 mm) of travel, 18 in (457 mm) optional
- Integrated fixturing is available for accuracy and quick parts change
- ±0.003 in (±0.076 mm) squareness and straightness over 24 in (608 mm)
Limitations
- No table size, pump or speed figures are published for the machine
- Optional Z travel stops at 18 in (457 mm), where the 3-axis EDGE X3-HR lists carriages to 24 in
- Integrated fixturing, laser surface mapping, the contact height sensor and dual mini hoppers are all options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both are high rail gantry machines with the Aquavision iQ controller. The EDGE X5-HR carries a 5-axis head that cuts bevels to 60°. The EDGE X3-HR cuts in 3 axes and is built for multi-head work, with a spreader bar option for up to 12 cutting heads.
02
The Permalign Arrow SL for abrasive cutting, or the OmniJet Arrow SL for water only cutting. Jet Edge states that the 5-axis cutting head can cut bevels to 60° taper free. AbrasiveJet or WaterJet heads are chosen at configuration.
03
The standard servo driven Z carriage has 12 in (304 mm) of vertical travel. An optional Z carriage with 18 in (457 mm) of vertical travel is listed for taller parts and fixtures.
04
Linear positional accuracy of ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) over 12 in (304 mm) per axis, bidirectional repeatability of ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm), and ±0.003 in (±0.076 mm) for ballbar tests of squareness and straightness over 24 in (608 mm).
