Overview
The Jainnher JHU-3510CNC is the middle of Jainnher's CNC universal cylindrical range and the size most general shops would start from: 350 mm (13.8 in) of swing, a 330 mm (13.0 in) grinding diameter and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of grinding length, carrying 130 kg (287 lb) between centers.
A universal grinder is judged by its wheel spindle, and Jainnher's description of it is specific. The spindle is held by two hydrodynamic bearings at its ends, with five-point support. Lubrication is forced, and the oil film the bearings build up is said to absorb vibration as the load changes. Should the oil supply fall short, the spindle stops by itself. A 0.75 kW (1 HP) hydraulic motor and separate tanks of 60 L for hydraulics and 30 L for forced lubrication serve the system.
The base under it is a single Meehanite casting of box section, tempered for stability. The tailstock sleeve is moved hydraulically, and its clamping force is set with a knob, which helps with thin parts that a hard-set center would bend.
On the CNC models the X-axis linear scale and a touch probe gauge are standard, as is full enclosure with an oil mist collector. The table swivels 9° counter-clockwise and 5° clockwise.
