Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HSG TL660 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The HSG TL660 is a four-chuck tube laser for pipe and hollow section of structural size. Round tube runs from Φ80 to Φ660 mm (3.1-26.0 in), square tube from 80 × 80 to 450 × 450 mm (17.7 × 17.7 in), and one tube may weigh 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). Lengths from 3,000 to 12,000 mm (118.1-472.4 in) are accepted, with 6,000-20,000 W of laser power.
Everything about the motion reflects that mass. The brochure lists 50 m/min maximum linkage speed and 0.2 G linkage acceleration, a small fraction of what HSG quotes for its light tube machines, and X/Y positioning accuracy is ±0.1 mm/m. Nobody buys this machine for cycle time on small holes. It is bought because it can hold and rotate a three-tonne tube at all.
Four heavy-duty pneumatic chucks share that job. Besides spreading the load along the tube, they allow what HSG calls reverse cutting mode, which cuts with short tailings; on sections this size the remnant is expensive. The servo motors carry absolute encoders, so a cut interrupted by a power failure can be restarted.
Control is HSG's own bus-based HSG-X system on a 21.5-inch touch screen, and it monitors core components in real time to give early alarms. A 3D cutting head for bevel cuts up to 45° is optional. Note the minimum sizes: nothing under Φ80 mm round or shorter than 3,000 mm goes on this machine.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Round tube up to Φ660 mm (26.0 in) and square tube up to 450 × 450 mm (17.7 × 17.7 in)
- Single tube weight of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) carried on four heavy-duty pneumatic chucks
- Tube lengths from 3,000 to 12,000 mm (118.1-472.4 in)
- Laser power from 6,000 to 20,000 W for heavy wall
- Reverse cutting mode with four chucks for short tailings
- Power-off cutting restart through absolute encoders on the servo motors
Limitations
- Maximum linkage speed is 50 m/min and linkage acceleration 0.2 G, so small features take time
- Minimum round tube is Φ80 mm (3.1 in) and minimum length 3,000 mm (118.1 in)
- Positioning accuracy of ±0.1 mm/m is coarser than on HSG's lighter tube machines
- The 3D cutting head needed for bevels is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Round tube from Φ80 to Φ660 mm (3.1-26.0 in) and square tube from 80 × 80 to 450 × 450 mm (17.7 × 17.7 in). The tube can be 3,000-12,000 mm (118.1-472.4 in) long and weigh up to 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).
02
HSG describes the four-chuck structure as the basis for cutting heavy, large and long tube stably. The chucks are heavy-duty pneumatic units. With four of them the machine can also cut in reverse cutting mode, which leaves short tailings and improves material use.
03
The brochure gives a maximum linkage speed of 50 m/min and a maximum linkage acceleration of 0.2 G. Those are low figures for a tube laser, which is expected on a machine that rotates tube weighing up to 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).
04
With the optional 3D cutting head. HSG lists 0-45° bevel cutting as an option and describes bevel cuts up to 45° for tube splicing. The table lists the cutting head as 3D (optional), so a machine ordered without it cuts square to the tube only.
