Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Honor Seiki VL-300C that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Honor Seiki VL-300C is the first model in the maker's Large vertical lathe range. It swings and turns 3,600 mm (141.7 in), accepts parts 2,000 mm (78.7 in) tall and is rated for a 30,000 kg (66,138 lb) workpiece, with 16 tool positions.
The jump from the Heavy Duty Series is plain in the load row. The VL-250C, the largest machine of that series, carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) on a 2,970 mm (116.9 in) turning diameter. The VL-300C doubles the weight for about a fifth more diameter, and adds height. Honor Seiki's description of the range names a wide span column, box ways and its patented Solid lock tool clamping mechanism, and says the machines are meant for huge workpieces and hardened material, the wind power industry in particular.
Workholding changes with the scale. In place of the 4-jaw table used on the Heavy Duty machines, the standard here is a table with a manual 8-jaw chuck. Eight jaws spread the clamping load around a thin ring, which matters when the part is a slewing bearing race or a tower flange that will distort if gripped at four points.
This C model is for turning only; the live spindle row is blank. For drilled and milled features the VL-300CM adds a live spindle and has 20 tool positions. Honor Seiki also mentions an optional dual spindles model for higher output, without listing its figures.
Table speed, table diameter, motor power and machine weight are absent from the page. A higher power motor, a lubricant chiller for the spindle bearing and gear, linear encoders on X and Z, and extended Z travel are options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 3,600 mm (141.7 in) swing and turning diameter with 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of turning height
- 30,000 kg (66,138 lb) workpiece limit, twice the 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) of the VL-250C
- Table with manual 8-jaw chuck as standard, suited to thin rings
- Wide span column, box ways and the Solid lock tool clamping mechanism
- 16 tool positions on a turning-only machine
Limitations
- No live spindle; the VL-300CM is the model with driven tools
- Table speed, table diameter and motor power are not published
- Hydraulic chuck, linear encoders and the lubricant chiller are options
- Cabinet air conditioner is standard only on the CM series

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum swing and turning diameter are 3,600 mm (141.7 in), maximum turning height is 2,000 mm (78.7 in), maximum workpiece weight is 30,000 kg (66,138 lb) and there are 16 tool positions.
02
The VL-300C turns 3,600 mm (141.7 in) by 2,000 mm (78.7 in) and carries 30,000 kg (66,138 lb). The VL-250C turns 2,970 mm (116.9 in) by 1,480 mm (58.2 in) and carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). The VL-300C also has 16 tool positions against 12 and an 8-jaw table in place of a 4-jaw.
03
A table with a manual 8-jaw chuck is standard across the VL-300 to VL-600 page. A hydraulic chuck and cylinder with size selections, hard jaws and high and low pressure chucking are listed as options.
04
Honor Seiki's page says an optional dual spindles model improves machining efficiency, but gives no model name or specification for it there. Ask the maker what the option includes on the VL-300 size.
