HNK VTC-40/50 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the HNK VTC-40/50 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from HNK or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

There is a wide gap between the two motors on the HNK VTC-40/50. The table drive is A.C 100 kW (134.1 hp). The milling spindle motor is A.C 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp), cont/30min. That ratio says what the machine is: a heavy vertical lathe first, with milling as the finishing capability that saves a second setup.

It turns up to 5,000 mm (196.9 in) in diameter on a 4,000 mm (157.5 in) table, to a height of 2,500 mm (98.4 in), with 50,000 kg (110,229 lb) on the table. Table speed is about 50 rpm in two steps. When the turning is done, the table becomes a C-axis at 0 to 0.3 rpm with 0.001 degree indexing, and the ISO 50 spindle works at up to about 2,000 rpm.

Consider what a second setup costs at this size. A 50,000 kg part has to be unclamped, lifted, carried to a boring mill and indicated in again, which is a shift of crane and setter time and a fresh chance of error between the turned and the milled features. Doing the drilling and milling on the lathe removes that step.

The cross rail moves 250 mm (9.8 in) x 7 steps and X covers -200 to +2,750 mm (-7.9 to +108.3 in). Ram and Z travel are chosen from the same lists as on the VTC-30/40, and the control from Fanuc 31i-B or Siemens 840D.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Can the VTC-40/50 do heavy milling?

Its milling motor is A.C 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp) at up to about 2,000 rpm with an ISO 50 taper. That handles drilling, tapping and moderate face milling. HNK publishes no torque figure, and the machine's main power, A.C 100 kW (134.1 hp), is in the table drive for turning.

02 What is the difference between the VTC-40/50 and the NT-40/50?

The NT-40/50 is a turning lathe only. The VTC-40/50 has the same 4,000 mm (157.5 in) table, 5,000 mm (196.9 in) swing and 50,000 kg (110,229 lb) load and adds a milling spindle and a C-axis table.

03 What Z travel and ram does the VTC-40/50 use?

Z travel is listed as 1,300/1,500/2,000/2,200/2,500 mm (51.2/59.1/78.7/86.6/98.4 in) and the ram as 300 x 300/350 x 350/400 x 400 mm (11.8 x 11.8/13.8 x 13.8/15.7 x 15.7 in). The combination is agreed with HNK at order.

04 How fast is the VTC-40/50 table in C-axis mode?

0 to 0.3 rpm, the figure HNK lists for this and every larger VTC. Indexing resolution is 0.001 degree, the same as on the smallest machine in the series.
