Overview
The Hartford 5BC-329 is a 5-axis double-column machining center with a fork-type two-axis head. It is the smallest 5BC: 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel, 2,900 mm (114.2 in) of Y and a fixed 3,000 x 2,200 mm (118.1 x 86.6 in) table that carries 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
On this kind of machine the workpiece stays still on the table and the spindle head does the tilting. Hartford builds its own head, a fork structure with B and C axes, and gives the maximum torque output of both axes as 1,000/1,000 NM. The head section measures 540 x 521 mm, which sets how close the spindle can get to a wall or a pocket side.
Two spindle interfaces are offered. With HSK-A63 the built-in spindle runs 15,000 / 24,000 rpm and tools may weigh 7 kg. With HSK-A100 it runs 12,000 rpm, tools may weigh 20 kg, and the motor is rated 34 /43 kW. The HSK-A63 motor row reads 29.5 / 37 kW, with 30 / 37 kW as an option.
Z travel is 1,000 mm, or 1,200 mm as an option, on four linear guideways that Hartford has patented for this axis. The crossbeam is a slant design with a 45 ° force flow, and the one-piece columns meet the base over a contact area of 1250 mm. The magazine holds 32 or 40 tools, or 60 in the A-type version.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Fork-type B/C head with 1,000/1,000 NM maximum torque output
- HSK-A63 spindle at 15,000 / 24,000 rpm or HSK-A100 spindle at 12,000 rpm
- Y travel of 2,900 mm (114.2 in) over a 2,200 mm wide table, leaving room for the tilted head
- Four linear guideways on the Z axis
- Table load of 10,000 kg (22,046 lb)
Limitations
- X travel of 3,000 mm (118.1 in) is the shortest in the 5BC line
- HSK-A63 tools are limited to 7 kg
- The 1,200 mm Z stroke is an option; standard is 1,000 mm
- Head swivel ranges and rotary speeds are not given in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A double-column machine with a fixed table and a two-axis fork head. Hartford describes a Taiwan made 5 axis head with a high rigidity FORK structure, and gives the maximum torque output of the B axis and C axis as 1,000/1,000 NM.
02
X 3,000 mm (118.1 in), Y 2,900 mm (114.2 in) and Z 1,000 mm, with 1,200 mm optional. The table is 3,000 x 2,200 mm (118.1 x 86.6 in) and carries 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
03
Built-in spindles in two sizes. HSK-A63: 15,000 / 24,000 rpm with 29.5 / 37 kW, optionally 30 / 37 kW. HSK-A100: 12,000 rpm with 34 /43 kW. Hartford's cutting example on the page uses a 15,000 rpm built-in spindle with 88.3 Nm.
04
Hartford's page refers to a self-display designed for Heidenhain TNC 640, and lists 5-axis error automatic compensation among the headline features. Other control options are not named in the table.
