Overview
The Hermle C 52 U is a large-format 5-axis machining center in Hermle's High-Performance Line, designed for aerospace structural parts, large mold and die work, and energy sector components. With X/Y/Z travels of 1,000 x 1,100 x 750 mm (39.4 x 43.3 x 29.5 in) and a table rated for 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), it handles workpieces that exceed the capacity of the GEN2 Performance Line models.
The swiveling rotary table measures 1,000 mm (39.4 in) diameter with a collision circle of 1,290 mm (50.8 in) and vertical table clearance of 950 mm. The A-axis swivels +/- 115 degrees with 360-degree continuous C-axis rotation. The modified gantry architecture provides outstanding dynamic accuracy across the full working volume.
Spindle options include 9,000, 14,000, and 18,000 rpm on HSK-A63 with 29 kW (39 hp) continuous power. The lower-speed spindle options deliver higher torque for heavy-duty roughing in titanium and Inconel. Rapid traverse is 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) on X and Y, 55 m/min (2,165 ipm) on Z — substantially faster than the Performance Line machines.
The mineral-cast base weighs approximately 20,000 kg total. Control options include Heidenhain TNC 640 or Siemens 840D sl. The 42-tool standard magazine expands to 160 positions. Positioning accuracy is +/- 0.006 mm with repeatability of +/- 0.003 mm.
The C 52 U bridges the gap between the C 42 U GEN2 and the flagship C 62 U. It competes with the DMG Mori DMU 100 and Makino MAG3 series. New pricing runs $750,000-$1,150,000.
