Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford Aero-1046G that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford Aero-1046G is the largest machine in the Aero series of gantry type 5-faced machining centers. It has a 10,000 x 4,100 mm (393.7 x 161.4 in) table, 10,000 mm (393.7 in) of X travel and 4,600 mm (181.1 in) of Y travel.
Beyond this size Hartford's lineup changes type. Longer or wider work goes to the MCW moving-column series, where the MCW-10550 offers 10,000 mm of X with 5,500 mm (216.5 in) of Y and a table rated at 3,000 kg/m². The Aero-1046G is the upper limit of the 5,000 kg/m² table.
Parts that use the whole envelope are rare and valuable: frames for the largest presses, sections of marine engines, wind turbine hubs and bedplates, tooling for aircraft wing skins. Hartford's statements about the machine concentrate accordingly on keeping accuracy over long travels, with supported screws specified one level larger, four guideways on the Z axis and automatic parameter tuning.
The cutting data are those of the smaller models. A #50 gear head runs 6,000 rpm, optionally 8,000 rpm; the optional i-Tech hybrid spindle reaches 10,000 rpm with a double cooling cycle for motor and spindle. Z travel is 1,000 mm, with 1,200 mm available.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 10,000 x 4,100 mm (393.7 x 161.4 in) table, the largest in the Aero series
- 10,000 mm (393.7 in) X travel and 4,600 mm (181.1 in) Y travel
- Table rated at 5,000 kg/m²
- Supported, upsized screws and automatic parameter tuning
Limitations
- Z travel of 1,000 mm, or 1,200 mm, is the same as on the two-metre Aero
- Spindle options are no larger than on the smaller models
- More Y travel requires the MCW-10550 and its lower 3,000 kg/m² rating

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The Aero-1046G. Its table is 10,000 x 4,100 mm (393.7 x 161.4 in), with 10,000 mm (393.7 in) of X travel, 4,600 mm (181.1 in) of Y travel and 1,000 mm of Z, or 1,200 mm optionally.
02
Hartford's MCW series. The MCW-10550 has 10,000 mm of X travel, 5,500 mm (216.5 in) of Y and a vertically moving cross-beam, with a table rating of 3,000 kg/m² against 5,000 kg/m² on the Aero-1046G.
03
Yes. The Aero-1046G-5X has the same table and X and Y travels, 1,100 mm of Z travel, and HSK-A63 spindles at 18,000 or 24,000 rpm or an HSK-A100 spindle at 12,000 rpm.

5,000 kg/m², stated per square metre of the 10,000 x 4,100 mm table. Hartford's table does not give a total load or the machine's own weight.
