Overview
The Hartford 5BC-434 pairs a 4,000 x 2,200 mm (157.5 x 86.6 in) table with 3,400 mm (133.9 in) of Y travel. It is a 5-axis double-column machining center with X travel of 4,000 mm (157.5 in) and a table load of 12,000 kg (26,455 lb).
Why would a machine need Y travel so much wider than its table? Because a fork head that tilts to work the side of a part must stand off to that side, beyond the edge of the workpiece. The wider the gantry stroke, the deeper down a side wall the tilted spindle can reach, and the wider the part that can be machined on all five faces. The 5BC-434 has the same table as the 5BC-429 and adds that side clearance.
The head is Hartford's own fork design with B and C axes rated at 1,000/1,000 NM maximum torque. Its body measures 540 x 521 mm in section. Spindles are built-in: HSK-A63 at 15,000 / 24,000 rpm, or HSK-A100 at 12,000 rpm with 34 /43 kW.
Z travel is 1,000 mm with a 1,200 mm option. The page shows the machine with a display designed for Heidenhain TNC 640 and lists automatic 5-axis error compensation.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 3,400 mm (133.9 in) of Y travel over a 2,200 mm wide table for side access with the tilted head
- Fork head with 1,000/1,000 NM on B and C
- Built-in spindles: HSK-A63 at 15,000 / 24,000 rpm or HSK-A100 at 12,000 rpm
- 4,000 mm (157.5 in) X travel and 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) table load
Limitations
- The table is no wider than the 5BC-429's despite the wider gantry
- Table load of 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) is below the 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) of the 5BC-438
- Z travel of 1,000 mm, or 1,200 mm optional, limits tall five-sided parts
- The head's swivel angles are not stated on the page

3,400 mm (133.9 in). X travel is 4,000 mm (157.5 in), and Z is 1,000 mm or optionally 1,200 mm. The table measures 4,000 x 2,200 mm (157.5 x 86.6 in).
02
Only in Y travel. The 5BC-429 has 2,900 mm (114.2 in) and the 5BC-434 has 3,400 mm (133.9 in). Table size, table load, spindles and magazine are the same in both tables.
03
The magazine holds 32 or 40 tools, or 60 as the A-type. Maximum tool weight is 7 kg with the HSK-A63 spindle and 20 kg with the HSK-A100 spindle.
04
It is a Taiwan made 5 axis head with a high rigidity FORK structure. The head section is 540 x 521 mm with a chamfer design inside the stock, and the maximum torque output of the B axis and C axis is 1,000/1,000 NM.
