Haas TM-0P

The Haas TM-0P takes the smallest toolroom mill envelope, 20 × 12 × 16 in (508 × 305 × 406 mm), and adds three things the plain TM-0 lacks: a 10-pocket carousel tool changer, a 6,000 rpm spindle and 400 ipm (10.2 m/min) rapids. The rest carries over from the TM-0, including the 7.5 hp (5.6 kW) spindle rating, the 350 lb (159 kg) table load and the 3,660 lb (1,660 kg) shipping weight.

The tool changer is the reason to choose the P. Ten tools cover a typical drill, tap and mill job without anyone standing at the spindle, but the carousel is slow by production standards at 5.7 s tool-to-tool and 6.5 s chip-to-chip. A part with many tool changes spends a noticeable share of its cycle waiting. Tools may be up to 3.5 in (89 mm) in diameter and 12 lb (5.4 kg). The table gives no maximum tool length, so check long drills and boring bars against the spindle-nose-to-table distance, which runs from 4 in (102 mm) to 20 in (508 mm).

The speed increase is real but narrow. Peak torque is 33 ft-lbf (45 N·m) at 1,200 rpm, so running to 6,000 rpm instead of the TM-0's 4,000 rpm helps small end mills and drills in aluminium, not heavy cuts in steel. Cutting feed and rapid traverse share the 400 ipm figure, double the 200 ipm (5.1 m/min) of the TM-0.

Y travel remains the limit: 12 in (305 mm), where the TM-1P offers 16 in (406 mm) along with 30 in (762 mm) of X. Power is 220 VAC single-phase at 40 A, or three-phase at 220 VAC and 25 A or at 440 VAC and 13 A. Air demand is 4 scfm at 100 psi (113 L/min at 6.9 bar) with 80 psi (5.5 bar) as the minimum pressure.
