Overview

The Haas DM-3 is the longest of the DM drill/mill centers: 36 in (914 mm) of X travel on a 38 × 15 in (965 × 381 mm) table, with 16 in (406 mm) of Y and 15.5 in (394 mm) of Z. Because the table is only slightly longer than the X stroke, nearly all of it can be reached by the spindle.

It is a fast machine for its length. Rapids are 2,400 ipm (61 m/min) and cutting feed reaches 1,200 ipm (30.5 m/min), with 2,550 lbf (11,343 N) of thrust in X and Y and 4,200 lbf (18,683 N) in Z. The CT40 or BT40 spindle is an inline direct-drive unit rated 15 hp (11.2 kW) and 10,000 rpm with 46 ft-lbf (62 N·m) at 1,700 rpm, and tapping is listed up to 5,000 rpm.
