GF Machining MIKRON MILL P 900

The Mikron MILL P 900 is the larger of GF Machining Solutions' two MILL P mould and die machines, with 900 x 600 x 450 mm of travel, a 1000 kg table rating and 30 m/min feed. It is built on a portal structure with a polymer concrete base and thermal management, aimed at mould makers for ICT, automotive, medical and consumer goods parts.

Two spindles are listed, and they serve different halves of mould work. The 20,000 rpm HSK-A63 spindle is rated 36 kW, the roughing and semi-finishing choice for steel mould bases and cavities. The 36,000 rpm HSK-E50 spindle is rated 11.7 Nm and suits finishing passes with small ball-nose tools. GF's series text covers STEP TEC spindles from 20,000 to 42,000 rpm with through-spindle cooling and integrated sensors; this size's table stops at 36,000 rpm. The magazine can hold 30, 60 or 170 tools, and the largest option makes sense where a cell runs electrodes and inserts unattended overnight.

Control is Heidenhain TNC 640 (Gen.3) or FANUC FS31iB, both with GF's smart machine modules: OSS, ISM, ITC, Econowatt and Power Fail Protection. The working area has steep enclosure walls, wash-down nozzles and heavy-duty chip augers sized for both aluminium and steel chips.

Check one row before planning fixtures: GF's table for this model lists a T-slot table of 600 x 500 mm, which is shorter than the 900 mm X stroke and the same size the Mikron MILL P 500 lists. Confirm the table dimensions with GF. Compared with the Mikron MILL E 800, which has 850 x 600 x 600 mm and a 20,000 rpm HSK-A63 option rated 120 Nm, the MILL P 900 trades Z travel for its portal design, polymer concrete base and a 36,000 rpm finishing spindle.
