Overview

The AgieCharmilles CUT P 600 is GF's precision wire EDM machine in the 600 size, built for high-value parts such as fine-feature stamping tools, watch components and medical parts. It has 600 mm of X, 400 mm of Y and 350 mm of Z travel and threads wire from 0.05 to 0.33 mm, the widest range of the 600-size machines. GF quotes a best surface finish of 0.10 μm Ra.

The 0.05 mm end of that range is what the CUT P series is about: GF lists fine wire machining down to 0.05 mm for tiny features and high-detail geometry. The AgieCharmilles CUT F 600 stops at 0.10 mm and the AgieCharmilles CUT E 600 at 0.15 mm on the same 600 x 400 x 350 mm travels. At the other end, 0.33 mm wire is available for faster roughing of the same parts.

The workpiece limit is 1030 x 800 x 350 mm and 1000 kg, the same as its two 600-size siblings. U/V travel is ±45 mm and the taper is ± 30°/50 mm. GF headlines the series with the largest angles, so on a taper job confirm the angle and height you need against that table row before ordering.

GF stresses low operator dependency for the CUT P. Advanced thermal precision management and calibration algorithms keep geometry stable over long cycles, Spark Track monitors the process, and ISPS protects against wire breakage during unattended cuts. iWire and Renishaw probing are optional. The machine measures 2160 x 3400 x 2600 mm and weighs 5240 kg with dielectric.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Wire from 0.05 to 0.33 mm, the widest range of the 600-size AgieCharmilles machines
  • Best quoted finish of 0.10 μm Ra
  • ISPS wire-breakage protection listed with the series features rather than as an option
  • Thermal precision management and calibration algorithms for stable geometry on long cycles
  • 1030 x 800 x 350 mm workpiece limit and 1000 kg load

Limitations

  • U/V travel of ±45 mm, against ± 50 mm on the AgieCharmilles CUT E 600
  • Taper is listed as ± 30°/50 mm, stated at only 50 mm of height
  • iWire and Renishaw probing are options
  • 5240 kg with dielectric needs a floor rated for it

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Why choose the CUT P 600 over the CUT F 600?

For fine wire and finish. The CUT P 600 runs 0.05 - 0.33 mm wire and is quoted at 0.10 μm Ra. The AgieCharmilles CUT F 600 runs 0.10 - 0.30 mm wire and is quoted at 0.14 μm Ra in carbide and 0.18 μm in steel. Travels and workpiece limits are the same on both.

02 Is ISPS standard on the CUT P 600?

GF lists ISPS among the CUT P series features without calling it optional, whereas on the CUT F series it is an option. iWire and the Renishaw probe are optional on the CUT P. Confirm the scope on the quotation, since the series page covers four sizes.

03 What part size fits the CUT P 600?

A workpiece up to 1030 x 800 x 350 mm and 1000 kg. The wire covers 600 mm in X, 400 mm in Y and 350 mm in Z. For smaller precision parts the series also includes a 350 size, and for larger ones 800 and 1250 sizes.

04 What taper can the CUT P 600 cut?

The table gives ± 30°/50 mm with U/V travel of ±45 mm. Check the angle at your part height against that row before ordering, since the table states the angle at 50 mm of height.
