Fidia BHE — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fidia BHE that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fidia or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fidia BHE is a range of bridge-type double-column milling machines offered across a span of sizes, not one fixed model. X travel runs from 2,200 to 6,200 mm (86.6 to 244 in), Y from 1,700 to 3,600 mm (66.9 to 141.7 in) and Z from 700 to 1,300 mm (27.5 to 51.1 in). Tables go from 2 x 1.7 m to 6 x 3.1 m, with load capacities from 8,000 kg to 28,000 kg (17,637 to 61,728 lb).

This is a torque machine. The standard spindle runs at 6,000 rpm on ISO50 or BT#50 with a 17/25 kW motor, direct coupling and a ZF 1:4 gear box, for a maximum torque of 956 Nm. Axis speed is up to 15 m/min (590 ipm). Those figures describe heavy roughing of large dies and general machining; built-in spindles at 8,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm are offered as options where finishing matters.

The structure is cast iron throughout: base, columns, traverse and ram. The ram is a box-type section of 380 x 380 mm on box ways treated with ROLON, growing to 420 x 420 mm on machines with 1,100 mm or 1,300 mm of Z travel. Y runs on 3 roller guides, two on top of the traverse and one on its front. Digital pressurized scales are mounted on all axes.

Indexed universal heads extend the machine to five-sided work. Fidia lists a manual universal head and two automatic indexed heads, the VH 1 with a pitch of 1° and the VH 2.5 with a pitch of 2.5°, all at 3,500 rpm on BT#50/ISO50. The automatic tool changer is offered with up to 180 positions. Because the range is so wide, confirm travels, table and load for the exact configuration.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Maximum spindle torque of 956 Nm through a ZF 1:4 gear box
  • Table load capacities from 8,000 kg to 28,000 kg (17,637 to 61,728 lb)
  • Cast iron base, columns, traverse and ram, designed with FEM
  • Indexed universal heads, manual or automatic, for five-sided machining
  • Automatic tool changer with up to 180 positions
  • Digital pressurized scales on all axes

Limitations

  • Axis speed is limited to 15 m/min (590 ipm)
  • The standard spindle stops at 6,000 rpm; faster built-in spindles are options
  • The universal heads are indexed, so this is not a machine for simultaneous 5-axis contouring
  • Sold across a wide range of sizes, so the published figures are spans, not one specification

Best For

Heavy roughing of large dies and tooling General machining of large cast iron and steel parts Five-sided work with an indexed universal head

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What sizes does the Fidia BHE cover?

X travel from 2,200 to 6,200 mm (86.6 to 244 in), Y from 1,700 to 3,600 mm (66.9 to 141.7 in) and Z from 700 to 1,300 mm (27.5 to 51.1 in). Tables range from 2 x 1.7 m to 6 x 3.1 m and load capacity from 8,000 kg to 28,000 kg (17,637 to 61,728 lb).

02 What spindle does the BHE have as standard?

A 6,000 rpm spindle on BT#50 or ISO50 with a 17/25 kW motor, direct coupling and a ZF 1:4 gear box, giving 956 Nm of maximum torque. Fidia describes a long nose design for reaching into cavities and says the whole line of spindles is oil cooled.

03 Can the BHE machine the sides of a part?

Yes, with an indexed universal head. Fidia offers a manually indexed head and two automatic heads: the VH 1 indexes B and C in steps of 1° and the VH 2.5 in steps of 2.5°. The heads run at 3,500 rpm on BT#50/ISO50.

04 How is the BHE ram built?

The ram is a box-type special casting of 380 x 380 mm for Z travels of 700 and 900 mm, supported by 4 box ways treated with ROLON anti-friction material. On models with 1,100 mm or 1,300 mm of Z travel the ram is 420 x 420 mm, and 4 linear roller guides can be fitted as an option.
