Feeler FVT-1000 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler FVT-1000 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Feeler FVT-1000 is a heavy-duty vertical turning lathe with a 32 in (813 mm) chuck and a maximum turning diameter of φ1,000 mm. Turning length, and Z travel, is 850 mm (33.5 in); X travel is 540 mm (21.3 in).

Vertical lathes exist because large, heavy, short parts are easier to load and hold with gravity on your side. A brake drum, a flange, a bearing housing or a wheel blank is lowered onto the chuck face and sits flat while the jaws close, with no sag and no need for a steady rest. The FVT-1000 is built around that kind of work.

Torque is the headline. Feeler states that the spindle has a two-speed gearbox delivering up to 4700 N·m at 90 rpm. Top speed is 1,500 rpm, which sounds low but is ample: at a metre in diameter, surface speed is reached at a few hundred rpm. The spindle nose is A2-15, and the through-spindle hole is 90 mm (3.5 in).

The machine has full box way construction with large-diameter ball screws and direct-drive feed motors, and rapids at 20,000 mm/min on X and Z. Tools sit in a 12-station BMT85 hydraulic turret, which Feeler calls simple and durable. Servo or powered turrets are optional, so milling and drilling on the part require that option. The integral cast base has bidirectional chip disposal. Table load, machine weight and motor power are missing from the page, and all three are needed before placing a part of this size.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Up to 4700 N·m of spindle torque at 90 rpm through a two-speed gearbox
  • φ1,000 mm maximum turning diameter with a 32 in (813 mm) chuck
  • Full box way construction with large-diameter ball screws
  • 12-station BMT85 hydraulic turret
  • Integral cast base with bidirectional chip disposal

Limitations

  • Powered and servo turrets are optional, so the base machine is turning only
  • Spindle speed tops out at 1,500 rpm
  • X travel of 540 mm (21.3 in)
  • No table load, motor power or machine weight is published

Best For

Brake drums, discs, flanges and wheel-type parts up to φ1,000 mm Heavy roughing of castings and forgings at low speed Large rings and bearing housings up to 850 mm tall Short, heavy parts that are awkward to chuck horizontally

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size parts can the Feeler FVT-1000 turn?

Maximum turning diameter is φ1,000 mm (φ39.4 in) and maximum turning length is 850 mm (33.5 in). The chuck is 32 in (813 mm). Feeler does not publish a maximum workpiece weight on the series page.

02 How much torque does the spindle have?

Feeler says the spindle is equipped with a two-speed gearbox, delivering up to 4700 N·m torque at 90 rpm. Maximum spindle speed is 1,500 rpm and the spindle nose is A2-15.

03 Does the FVT-1000 have live tooling?

Not as standard. The machine uses a BMT85 hydraulic turret with 12 stations, and Feeler states that optional servo or powered turrets are available for specialized applications.

04 What guideways does it use?

Full box way construction, combined with high-rigidity feed systems, large-diameter ball screws and direct-drive feed motors, according to Feeler. Rapid traverse on X and Z is 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm).
