Overview
The DN Solutions HM 1250 is the largest standard horizontal in the HM series, stepping up to a 1,250 x 1,250 mm pallet with 2,100 x 1,500 x 1,500 mm (83 x 59 x 59 in) of axis travel. That's 250 mm more Y and Z than the HM 1000, and the bigger pallet opens up workpiece sizes that the 1000mm class can't touch.
The ISO 50 spindle carries the same 1,989 Nm of torque at 6,000 RPM as the HM 1000, driven by 26 kW (35 hp) continuous. That torque rating is what you need for large-diameter face mills and boring bars in cast iron and steel — the bread-and-butter work these machines were designed for. The 60-tool magazine provides enough capacity for complex multi-operation cycles.
The 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) pallet capacity matches the HM 1000, which makes sense given the similar spindle power. You've got more envelope but the same cutting muscle, so the HM 1250 targets larger parts at similar material removal rates. At 31,000 kg (68,343 lb), the machine weighs 2 tons more than the HM 1000 — the extra mass comes from the larger column, bed, and pallet system.
Rapid traverse holds at 24 m/min. The HM 1250 occupies a space in the market where the parts are too big for 800-1000mm pallet machines but don't require the performance and price of the NHM/NHP platforms. For shops running large castings, valve bodies, and structural components in production volumes, it's a solid workhorse.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,250mm pallet class handles the largest castings and housings that won't fit on 1000mm machines
- 1,500 mm Y and Z travel provides a massive working envelope for tall and deep parts
- 1,989 Nm spindle torque matches the HM 1000 — same cutting muscle in a bigger package
- 60-tool magazine supports complex machining sequences for multi-featured large parts
- 31,000 kg machine weight ensures stability during heavy roughing on large castings
- Cost-effective alternative to the NHM/NHP performance platforms for large-part production
Limitations
- 6,000 RPM spindle speed is limiting for shops that also need high-speed aluminum capability
- 3,000 kg pallet capacity may constrain the heaviest large castings — the HM 1250 W offers 5,000 kg
- 31-ton weight and large footprint demand significant shop floor real estate
- 24 m/min rapids result in noticeable positioning time across the large working envelope

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New HM 1250 machines sell for $600,000 to $850,000 depending on pallet configuration, automation, and tooling options. The step up from the HM 1000 reflects the larger pallet system, extended travels, and heavier machine structure.
02
The HM 1250 W is the heavy-duty variant with a 45 kW (60 hp) spindle running 3,000 RPM with 1,910 Nm torque, and a 5,000 kg pallet capacity. The standard HM 1250 has a 26 kW spindle at 6,000 RPM. Choose the W for the heaviest workpieces and maximum metal removal in steel.
03
The working envelope spans 2,100 x 1,500 x 1,500 mm with a 1,250mm square pallet and 3,000 kg capacity. Practical part size depends on fixturing and tool clearances, but parts up to roughly 1.2 meters in swing diameter and 1.4 meters tall are within range.
04
Yes. The HM series supports dual-pallet APCs and multi-pallet pool systems. The 60-tool magazine combined with APC enables extended unattended production runs on large parts.
