Overview
The DN Solutions HM 1000 is a box guideway horizontal machining center for large components, with a 1,000 × 1,000 mm (39 × 39 in) pallet rated for 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) and travels of 2,100 mm (83 in) in X and 1,250 mm (49 in) in both Y and Z. An ISO 50, gearbox-driven spindle delivers 1,989.4 N·m (1,467 ft-lb) as standard.
X travel is the figure that stands out. At 2,100 mm (83 in) it is more than twice the pallet width, so a long casting or a fabricated frame can overhang the pallet on both sides and still be machined end to end. Y and Z at 1,250 mm (49 in) are the limit on height and depth: the HM 1250 keeps the same X and raises both to 1,500 mm (59 in).
Each spindle row in the table carries an option. Standard is 26/22 kW (35/30 hp) with a 6,000 rpm maximum. The options are 37/30 kW (50/40 hp), 8,000 rpm and 3,687 N·m (2,719 ft-lb), the last being about 85% more torque than standard. The table does not say whether the three options come as one spindle or are separate choices, so settle that with DN. Box guideways and a geared spindle are both choices that favour heavy, low-speed metal removal over fast positioning, and the 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapid rate says the same. Jobs with thousands of short moves will run slowly here; jobs with big face mills and long boring bars are what the machine is for.
DN supplies a shuttle-type pallet changer as the standard pallet change system, and the magazine holds 60 tools. The machine weighs 29,000 kg (63,934 lb) and needs 9,657 × 5,822 mm (380 × 229 in) of floor with 3,885 mm (153 in) of height.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,100 mm (83 in) of X travel, more than twice the width of the 1,000 × 1,000 mm (39 × 39 in) pallet
- Gearbox-driven ISO 50 spindle with 1,989.4 N·m (1,467 ft-lb) as standard
- Optional spindle with 37/30 kW (50/40 hp) and 3,687 N·m (2,719 ft-lb)
- Pallet load of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb)
- Box guideways and a shuttle-type pallet changer as standard
- 60-tool magazine, the same capacity as the HM 1250 and the HM 1250 W
Limitations
- Rapid traverse is 24 m/min (945 ipm), slow for parts with many short positioning moves
- Standard spindle speed tops out at 6,000 rpm; 8,000 rpm is an option
- Y and Z travel are 1,250 mm (49 in), less than the 1,500 mm (59 in) of the HM 1250
- The 3,687 N·m (2,719 ft-lb) torque figure belongs to the optional spindle, not the base machine
- Takes 9,657 × 5,822 mm (380 × 229 in) of floor and weighs 29,000 kg (63,934 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The pallet is 1,000 × 1,000 mm (39 × 39 in) with a maximum load of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). Travels are 2,100 mm (83 in) in X and 1,250 mm (49 in) in Y and Z. DN's table does not list the maximum workpiece swing or height, so request them for parts that overhang the pallet.
02
Standard is 26/22 kW (35/30 hp), 6,000 rpm and 1,989.4 N·m (1,467 ft-lb). The options listed are 37/30 kW (50/40 hp), 8,000 rpm and 3,687 N·m (2,719 ft-lb), and the table does not state whether all three belong to a single optional spindle. The taper is ISO 50, and DN describes the spindle as gearbox-driven and high-torque.
03
The HM 1250 has a 1,250 × 1,250 mm (49 × 49 in) pallet and 1,500 mm (59 in) of Y and Z travel, and weighs 31,000 kg (68,343 lb). The HM 1000 has a 1,000 × 1,000 mm (39 × 39 in) pallet, 1,250 mm (49 in) of Y and Z and weighs 29,000 kg (63,934 lb). X travel, pallet load, rapids and tool capacity are the same.
04
Yes. DN describes a shuttle-type pallet changer as the standard pallet change system for the series. The table does not state the number of pallets or the change time, so ask for both, along with the layout drawing, since the listed 9,657 × 5,822 mm (380 × 229 in) floor area has to be checked against the pallet system.
05
A smaller DN horizontal with an ISO 50 spindle is the NHM 8000, which has an 800 mm (31 in) pallet, 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) load, travels of 1,400 mm (55 in), 1,050 mm (41 in) and 1,200 mm (47 in), 1,732 N·m (1,278 ft-lb) of spindle torque and the same 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapids.
