Overview

The DN Solutions DVF 8000 T 50 is the heavy-duty variant of the DVF 8000 T, built for shops that need to push hard into tough materials on an 800 mm 5-axis platform. Where the standard DVF 8000 T prioritizes speed with its 18,000 RPM spindle, the T 50 swaps in a 10,000 RPM high-torque spindle with a massive 488 Nm (360 ft-lbs) of torque through an HSK-T100 taper. That's four times the torque of the standard model and puts this machine in serious heavy-metal-removal territory.

Axis travel runs 1,000 x 900 x 800 mm (39.4 x 35.4 x 31.5 in) on X/Y/Z. Note the 800 mm Z-travel versus 685 mm on the standard DVF 8000 T — an extra 115 mm that gives you more room for taller parts and longer tools. The 800 mm (31.5 in) diameter tilting table handles workpieces up to 700 kg (1,543 lb), same as the standard model.

The HSK-T100 taper is the real differentiator here. It's a substantially larger interface than the standard model's HSK-T63, providing the clamping force and rigidity needed for heavy face mills, large-diameter endmills, and aggressive roughing passes in titanium, Inconel, and hardened steels. The 35 kW (47 hp) spindle motor pushes more power through those bigger tools than the standard model's 22 kW unit.

Rapid traverse runs at 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) on X and Y, dropping to 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on Z — notably slower than the standard model's 45 m/min across the board. That's the tradeoff for the heavier spindle and larger taper. The 40-tool magazine is smaller than the standard model's 60 tools, which makes sense given the larger HSK-T100 tooling that takes up more magazine space.

At 25,000 kg (55,116 lb), the machine matches the standard DVF 8000 T's weight. The footprint grows slightly to 4,825 x 3,400 mm (190 x 134 in) to accommodate the larger spindle and Z-axis assembly. This machine competes with heavy-duty 5-axis platforms from Hermle, Mazak, and DMG Mori that are spec'd for aggressive material removal in tough alloys.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 488 Nm torque through HSK-T100 delivers four times the cutting force of the standard DVF 8000 T for serious roughing
  • 35 kW spindle motor pushes heavy face mills and large endmills through titanium and Inconel without bogging down
  • 800 mm Z-travel gives 115 mm more clearance than the standard model for taller parts and longer tools
  • HSK-T100 taper provides the clamping rigidity needed for large-diameter tooling and aggressive material removal
  • 25,000 kg machine weight ensures excellent dampening during heavy interrupted cuts
  • Mill-turn capability maintained — the T designation means table turning is available for done-in-one parts

Limitations

  • 10,000 RPM max spindle speed limits surface speed for aluminum and high-speed finishing compared to the 18K standard model
  • 36/30 m/min rapids are significantly slower than the standard model's 45 m/min, adding non-cutting time on complex paths
  • 40-tool magazine is limited for complex jobs, and HSK-T100 tooling is more expensive than smaller taper systems
  • HSK-T100 tooling inventory is a major investment — holders, collets, and presetters all cost more than HSK-T63
  • Larger 4,825 x 3,400 mm footprint requires more floor space than the standard DVF 8000 T

Best For

Aerospace manufacturers roughing titanium and Inconel structural components on a 5-axis platform Power generation shops machining turbine housings and components in heat-resistant superalloys Heavy industrial operations cutting large features in hardened steels and difficult-to-machine materials Shops that need both high-torque 5-axis milling and turning capability for complex heavy-metal parts Operations where material removal rate in tough materials matters more than surface speed and cycle time on aluminum

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does the DN Solutions DVF 8000 T 50 cost?

New DVF 8000 T 50 pricing typically falls between $500,000 and $700,000. The HSK-T100 spindle, 35 kW motor, and extended Z-axis add significant cost over the standard DVF 8000 T. Factor in HSK-T100 tooling investment on top of the machine cost — holders alone run 2-3x what HSK-T63 costs.

02 Should I choose the DVF 8000 T or the DVF 8000 T 50?

Material drives the decision. If you're primarily cutting aluminum and light alloys with occasional steel, the standard 18K RPM model is faster and more versatile. If titanium, Inconel, or hardened steels are your primary materials, the T 50's 488 Nm torque and HSK-T100 taper will significantly outperform the standard model on material removal rate.

03 Can the DVF 8000 T 50 still do turning?

Yes. The T designation confirms mill-turn capability with table turning. The C-axis turning function works with the 800 mm table for done-in-one parts that need both milling and turning features, though specific turning RPM specs should be confirmed with your DN Solutions dealer.

04 What materials is the DVF 8000 T 50 optimized for?

The 488 Nm torque and HSK-T100 taper are specifically sized for titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V), nickel-based superalloys (Inconel 718, Waspaloy), hardened tool steels, and other difficult-to-machine materials. It'll handle aluminum and mild steel fine, but you're paying for capability you don't need if those are your primary materials.
