Overview

With a 500 mm (20 in) table rated for 400 kg (882 lb), the DN Solutions DVF 5000 is the second size in the DVF family of 5-axis vertical machining centers. It travels 625 mm (25 in) in X, 450 mm (18 in) in Y and 400 mm (16 in) in Z, and rapids at 40 m/min (1,575 ipm).

Its nearest relative is the DVF 4000, and travel hardly separates them: that machine has 620 mm (24 in), 440 mm (17 in) and 430 mm (17 in). What differs is how much can sit on the table. The DVF 5000 carries double the 200 kg (441 lb) of the DVF 4000, yet the DVF 4000 and the DVF 5000 each weigh 7,500 kg (16,535 lb), so the extra capacity does not come with a heavier frame.

The standard spindle is ISO 40, 12,000 rpm, 18.5 kW (25 hp) and 118 N·m (87 ft-lb). Two options change that: an 18,000 rpm speed and a 22 kW (30 hp) rating. They appear in separate rows and the table does not say whether they belong to one spindle, so ask. The figure to watch is Z. At 400 mm (16 in) it is shorter than the table is wide, and it has to hold the part, the fixture and the tool above a tilting table. Tall workpieces run out of height before they run out of table.
