Dener TMU 500 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Dener TMU 500 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Dener or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Dener TMU 500 is a 5-axis machining center with a tilting rotary table: travels of 620 mm (24.4 in) in X, 520 mm in Y and 460 mm in Z, a B axis that tilts from -110° to +110° and a C axis with 360° of rotation. Dener states that it mills in five axes simultaneously.

The table is 650 mm across and carries 300 kg (661 lb). It turns quickly, at 120/210 rpm for B/C, and the linear axes traverse at 40 m/min, so the machine is built for dynamic contouring more than for heavy parts.

The spindle runs to 14,000 rpm. Its power is listed as 21/15 kW and its torque as 112/80 Nm at 40% and 100% duty. Tools are HSK-A63, held in a 30-tool magazine.

Accuracy is specified in detail, which is unusual on Dener's pages. Linear positioning is ±0.004 mm with ±0.002 mm repeatability. The rotary axes are given in arc seconds: 7 sec positioning and 4 sec repeatability on C, 12 sec and 8 sec on B. Linear encoders on X, Y and Z and angle encoders on B and C are standard.

The standard control is a Siemens Sinumerik One; a Heidenhain TNC 640 is optional. Through-tool coolant, spindle cooling and a belt-type chip conveyor are included.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • B axis tilt of -110° to +110° with a 360° C axis
  • 14,000 rpm spindle listed at 21/15 kW and 112/80 Nm
  • ±0.004 mm linear positioning with linear encoders as standard
  • 40 m/min rapid traverse on the linear axes
  • Through-tool coolant is standard equipment

Limitations

  • Table load of 300 kg (661 lb)
  • Z travel of 460 mm limits tall parts
  • 30 tools may be few for complex five-axis jobs
  • Dener's text and its table give different duty ratings for the spindle power
