Price estimate
We do not have a price for the CHMER RQ3625L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The CHMER RQ3625L is the smallest of the RQ gantry wire EDMs: 360 x 250 mm (14.2 x 9.8 in) of X and Y travel, 200 mm (7.9 in) of Z, and linear motors on the X and Y axes. CHMER builds the series on what it calls a rigid gantry structure and pairs it with its UX1 made-in-house linear motors and the i8+ power supply.
Linear drive is the point of the machine. The X Y feed rate is listed at a maximum of 1,800 mm/min (70.9 ipm), with U, V and Z left on AC servo motors. On a travel this short the speed matters less for repositioning than for how the axes respond during the cut, which is where a direct drive with no ballscrew earns its place on small, precise parts.
For its travel the RQ3625L takes a heavy part: 450 kg (992 lb). The workpiece size row gives two figures, 650 x 450 x 200 mm / 650 x 450 x 145 mm, without saying which cutting condition each applies to, so ask CHMER which one governs your job. Taper is ±14.5°/80 with the wide-angled nozzle on 60 x 60 mm (2.4 x 2.4 in) of U and V travel.
The machine weighs 2,750 kg (6,063 lb) and measures 2,400 x 2,500 x 2,250 mm. Tank capacity is given as 930 kg. A water chiller and 0.26MM diamond guides are on the standard list.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Linear motors on X and Y with a 1,800 mm/min (70.9 ipm) maximum feed rate
- Gantry structure, which CHMER describes as rigid and stable
- 450 kg (992 lb) workpiece rating on a 360 x 250 mm (14.2 x 9.8 in) travel
- Series is equipped with CHMER's i8+ power supply and AWT
- Compact at 2,400 x 2,500 x 2,250 mm (94.5 x 98.4 x 88.6 in)
Limitations
- Z travel is 200 mm (7.9 in), which limits part height
- Taper is ±14.5°/80; the RQ6040L is listed at ±21°/100
- U, V and Z axes use AC servo motors, not linear motors
- The two workpiece size figures in the table are not explained

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X and Y. The axis drive system row reads XY-Linear Motor / UVZ-AC Servo Motor, and CHMER names the motors as its UX1 made-in-house linear motors. The maximum X Y feed rate is 1,800 mm/min (70.9 ipm).
02
Maximum workpiece weight is 450 kg (992 lb). The size row lists 650 x 450 x 200 mm / 650 x 450 x 145 mm (25.6 x 17.7 x 7.9 in / 25.6 x 17.7 x 5.7 in). CHMER's table does not label the two figures, so confirm which applies to submerged or flushing work.
03
±14.5°/80 with a wide-angled nozzle (DA+DB=15mm), using U and V axes that travel 60 x 60 mm (2.4 x 2.4 in). The largest RQ model, the RQ6040L, is listed at ±21°/100 with 100 x 100 mm of U and V travel.
04
Outside dimensions are 2,400 x 2,500 x 2,250 mm (94.5 x 98.4 x 88.6 in) and machine weight is 2,750 kg (6,063 lb). CHMER states the tank capacity as 930 kg (2,050 lb), a weight and not a volume.
