How much does the Chevalier QP2033-L cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Chevalier QP2033-L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Chevalier QP2033-L is the 33.5 in (850 mm) model of the QP high-speed vertical machining centers, with 20.9 in (530 mm) of Y and 20.1 in (510 mm) of Z. It occupies the same envelope as the EM2033L from Chevalier's cost-saving line, and the difference between the two is in the spindle and the tool changer.
On the QP, direct drive runs from 120 to 12,000 rpm and belt drive from 100 to 10,000 rpm. Spindle diameter is 2.8 in (70 mm), where the EM2033L lists 2.4 in (60 mm), and a larger spindle cartridge generally means larger bearings and a stiffer nose. The 24+1 arm type changer swaps tools in 2 sec tool-to-tool. The EM2033L takes 3 sec.
Chevalier's feature list for the series adds high pressure coolant, which it describes as taking chips and heat out of deep-hole machining and improving tool life and part accuracy. Linear ways are used on all axes, and the maker quotes the fastest linear movement in the series as up to 1,891 ipm. The rapid traverse row for this particular model is not printed cleanly in the maker's table, so no per-axis figure is given here.
The table is 39.4 in x 20.1 in (1,000 x 510 mm) with a 1,100 lb (500 kg) limit, and the spindle nose travels from 5.9 in to 26 in (150 to 660 mm) above it. Weight is 12,700 lb (5,800 kg). The enclosure is taller than the EM's at 116.7 in, on a 95.7 in x 118.9 in footprint. Control is a Fanuc 0i-M.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Direct drive spindle option of 120 to 12,000 rpm on a #40 Big Plus taper
- 2.8 in (70 mm) spindle diameter
- 2 sec tool-to-tool change with a 24+1 arm type magazine
- High pressure coolant listed by the maker for deep-hole machining
- 33.5 in (850 mm) by 20.9 in (530 mm) by 20.1 in (510 mm) travels with a 1,100 lb (500 kg) table
Limitations
- Enclosure height of 116.7 in (2,963 mm) needs checking against door and ceiling clearances
- The maker's table gives no clean rapid traverse figure for this model
- No spindle power or torque is published
- Only the QP1620-L in the series offers the 15,000 rpm direct drive

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels, table size, table load and weight are the same. The QP2033-L lists a 120 to 12,000 rpm direct drive, a 2.8 in (70 mm) spindle diameter and a 2 sec tool change. The EM2033L lists 10,000 rpm, a 2.4 in (60 mm) spindle diameter and a 3 sec tool change.
02
Two drives are listed. Belt drive covers 100 to 10,000 rpm and direct drive covers 120 to 12,000 rpm. The spindle taper is #40 Big Plus and the tool shank BT40, with CT40 or DIN40 optional.
03
The table is 39.4 in x 20.1 in (1,000 x 510 mm) and carries 1,100 lb (500 kg). The distance from spindle center to column is 23.0 in (585 mm), which sets how deep a part can sit on the table in Y.
04
The 24+1 arm type magazine takes tools up to 3.1 in (Ø80 mm) in diameter with adjacent tools, 11.8 in (300 mm) long and 15.4 lb (7 kg). Tool change time is 2 sec tool-to-tool.
