Overview

The Anderson Selexx 48 TC+D is the smallest of the three Selexx routers, built around a 2500 mm (98.4”) by 1250 mm (49”) table with 2 vacuum zones. That is a 4 x 8 sheet with a little margin. Strokes are 2630 mm (103.5”) in X, 1720 mm (67.7”) in Y and 250 mm (9.84”) in Z, and the machine weighs 3,200 Kg (7,055 lbs.).

The name spells out the head: a tool-change spindle plus a drill block. The spindle is listed at 12 HP / 18 HP with a maximum of 22,000 rpm on HSK-63 tooling, the ride-along tool changer holds 8 / 10 tools and the boring block comes as 5+5 or 10+7. Anderson's point about the ride-along changer is that the tools travel with the head, which it says removes up to 500 unnecessary rapid traverses per shift.

Anderson places the Selexx below its Stratos and Exxact models in speed, yet the listed rapids are not slow: 80 m/min in X, 60 m/min in Y and 20 m/min in Z, with a maximum rapid traverse of 100 m/min. On a table this short the gantry rarely reaches those rates before it has to brake, so the figures matter less here than on the longer Selexx 512.

Anderson lists 10 inches of Z as standard and suggests pod work, fixture work and 3D parts as uses for it. The multizone table switches the correct zones for the sheet or part size, and location is by a choice of 8 automatic pop-up pins or steel pop-up rails. The frame is pre-wired and pre-machined for a pusher sweeper or a material conveyor, so offloading can be added in the field. Control is FANUC 0i.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Sized for 4 x 8 sheet: 2500 mm (98.4”) by 1250 mm (49”) table with 2 vacuum zones
  • Lightest Selexx at 3,200 Kg (7,055 lbs.), against 4,600 Kg (10,132 lbs.) for the Selexx 510
  • Spindle offered at 12 HP / 18 HP, up to 22,000 rpm on HSK-63
  • Ride-along tool changer plus a 5+5 or 10+7 boring block on one head
  • Pre-wired and pre-machined for a pusher sweeper or material conveyor to be retrofitted

Limitations

  • Table is 1250 mm (49”) wide, so 5 ft sheet needs the Selexx 510 or 512
  • Tool changer holds 8 / 10 tools, a small set for jobs with many profile cutters
  • Z rapid of 20 m/min is a quarter of the 80 m/min X rapid
  • C-axis, automatic loading, offload pusher/sweeper, bar-code reader and label placement are all optional

Best For

4 x 8 nested cabinet parts with drilling from the boring block Smaller shops that want a tool-change spindle and drill block on one head Pod and fixture work that uses the 250 mm (9.84”) Z stroke Cells that will add offloading later

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What sheet size is the Selexx 48 TC+D made for?

The table is 2500 mm (98.4”) in X and 1250 mm (49”) in Y, which covers a 4 x 8 sheet. X stroke is 2630 mm (103.5”) and Y stroke 1720 mm (67.7”), so the head travels well past the table edge in Y. For 5 ft wide sheet the Selexx 510 has a 3100 mm (122”) by 1550 mm (61”) table.

02 What does TC+D mean on the Selexx 48?

Anderson's table does not expand the letters, but the configuration it lists is a tool-change router spindle with a ride-along tool changer of 8 / 10 tools and a boring block in 5+5 or 10+7 form. In practice that means profiles from the spindle and hole patterns from the drill block in one setup.

03 How heavy is the Selexx 48 TC+D?

3,200 Kg (7,055 lbs.). It is the lightest of the three Selexx sizes: the Selexx 510 is listed at 4,600 Kg (10,132 lbs.) and the Selexx 512 at 5,000 Kg (11,000 lbs.). The table lists lettered overall dimensions without saying which is length, width or height, so ask for a layout drawing.

04 Which features are optional on the Selexx 48 TC+D?

Reverse air flow, a bar-code reader, a C-axis, an offload pusher/sweeper, automatic loading and CNC label placement are each listed as optional. The vacuum pump is a choice of 10, 25 or 40 HP and the spindle a choice of 12 HP / 18 HP, so both have to be specified at order.
