Akira Seiki V2XP — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Akira Seiki V2XP that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Akira Seiki or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Akira Seiki V2XP opens the V series: a BT40 vertical machining center with 550 mm (21.7 in) of X travel, 445 mm (17.5 in) of Y and 520 mm (20.5 in) of Z. The table is 700 x 400 mm (27.6 x 15.8 in) and carries 600 kg (1,323 lb) as standard, 720 kg (1,588 lb) at most.

Akira Seiki's table for this model has two columns, V and XP, and the spindle is where they part. The V column lists 20 HP (14.9 kW) peak and 10,000 rpm. The XP column lists 22 HP (16.4 kW) and 12,000 rpm. Everything else on the sheet, from travels to the magazine, is shared, so confirm on the quotation which spindle is being offered.

A 28T arm-type magazine is generous for a machine this short. Tools may be 65 mm (2.6 in) in diameter beside a neighbour, 130 mm (5.1 in) with the adjacent pockets empty, 250 mm (9.8 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb). The change takes 2.2 s.

Chip disposal is listed as drawer or chip screw, the coolant tank holds 250 L (66 gal), and the machine needs 20 kVA with 0.5 MPa (72.5 psi) air. Positioning is given as 0.01 mm (0.00039 in), repeatability as ±0.003 mm (±0.00012 in). The control is the AKIRA Mi:845.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 28T magazine on a machine with 550 mm (21.7 in) of X travel
  • Choice of 10,000 rpm (V) or 12,000 rpm (XP) spindle
  • Z travel of 520 mm (20.5 in), with 75~595 mm (3~23.4 in) from spindle nose to table
  • Power requirement of only 20 kVA

Limitations

  • Peak power is 20 HP (14.9 kW) on the V and 22 HP (16.4 kW) on the XP, well under the 30 HP (22.4 kW) of the V3XP
  • Adjacent tools are limited to 65 mm (2.6 in) in diameter
  • The maker's table prints two rapid-feed rows and two weights without saying which version each belongs to
  • X travel of 550 mm (21.7 in) limits the machine to single-fixture work
06

Best For

Small prismatic parts with many tools per setup Aluminium work at 12,000 rpm with the XP spindle Shops with a 20 kVA supply limit Tall parts under 520 mm (20.5 in) of Z

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the V and XP versions of the V2XP?

The spindle. Akira Seiki's table gives the V version 20 HP (14.9 kW) peak and 10,000 rpm, and the XP version 22 HP (16.4 kW) peak and 12,000 rpm. Travels, table, magazine and services are printed once for both.

02 What are the travels of the V2XP?

550 mm (21.7 in) in X, 445 mm (17.5 in) in Y and 520 mm (20.5 in) in Z, over a 700 x 400 mm (27.6 x 15.8 in) table with four 18 mm T-slots at 80 mm pitch.

03 How many tools does the V2XP hold?

28T in an arm-type changer, with a 2.2 s tool change. Tool limits are 65 mm (2.6 in) in diameter, 130 mm (5.1 in) without a neighbouring tool, 250 mm (9.8 in) in length and 7 kg (15 lb).

04 How does the V2XP compare with the V2.5XP?

The V2.5XP is the same machine with a longer X axis: 760 mm (30 in) of travel on a 910 x 400 mm (35.8 x 15.8 in) table that takes 960 kg (2,116 lb) at most. Y, Z, spindle options and the 28T magazine match the V2XP.
