Overview
The Brother Speedio W1000Xd2 is the largest Speedio, extending X-axis to 1,000 mm for shops needing bigger parts without giving up high-speed DNA. It bridges compact Speedios and full-size production VMCs.
X/Y/Z travels are 1,000 x 500 x 300 mm with a 16,000 rpm BT30 spindle at 7.5 kW. The 22-tool turret delivers 1.4-second chip-to-chip changes -- slower than smaller Speedios but fast by industry standards.
Rapids reach 56 m/min on X/Z, 50 m/min on Y. Table capacity is 400 kg, the highest in the Speedio lineup. Positioning accuracy +/- 0.005 mm, repeatability +/- 0.003 mm.
At 5,200 kg, it is heavier than other Speedios but lighter than 40-taper VMCs with similar travel. Footprint is 2,450 x 2,700 mm.
No other manufacturer offers 1,000mm X-travel with a turret tool changer and BT30 tooling. This combination is unique to Brother.
New machines price $150,000-$200,000. Used trade $80,000-$130,000 when available.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,000 mm X-travel unmatched in compact high-speed VMCs
- 400 kg table supports substantial fixturing
- Retains Speedio high-speed DNA with 56 m/min rapids
- 1.4s turret changes still fast by industry standards
- Lighter than 40-taper VMCs with similar travel
- 22-tool magazine adds one pocket over standard Speedios
Limitations
- BT30 on a 1,000mm platform may feel underpowered for steel
- 1.4s tool change slower than 0.9s on smaller Speedios
- Positioning accuracy looser than smaller Speedios
- Z-axis 300 mm is shortest in Speedio range
- Limited used market
