Overview

The gear head of the Vision Wide MB-2516 is cast in one piece with the headstock, and its gears are a named grade. Vision Wide says it uses Japan-made JIS0 gears for the gear head to get high rigidity, high precision and low noise.

In a geared spindle the gearbox is the heart of the machine. It turns motor speed into torque across two ranges, and its quality decides how smoothly the spindle runs under load. Gears cut to a fine tolerance mesh quietly and transmit torque without the small speed ripple that shows as a pattern on a milled face. Casting the gear head and headstock as one keeps the shafts in line and gives the heat a single mass to spread through.

The maker adds that the Z-axis sits at the symmetrical position of the spindle motor, for smooth fine movement.

The MB-2516 has 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of X travel, 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of Y, and a 2,500×1,300 mm (98.4×51.2 in) table rated for 9,000 kg (19,841 lb). The spindle runs 4,000 rpm in standard form, 6,000 rpm as an option. Power is 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp). All three axes are box ways with a 15 m/min rapid.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What gears does the Vision Wide MB-2516 use?

Vision Wide states that Japan-made JIS0 gears are used for the gear head, for high rigidity, high precision and low noise, and that the gear head transmission and headstock are one piece casting.

02 What are the MB-2516 travels and table?

X 2,500 mm (98.4 in), Y 1,600 mm (63.0 in), Z 800 mm or optionally 1,020 mm. The table is 2,500×1,300 mm (98.4×51.2 in) and carries 9,000 kg (19,841 lb).

03 What spindle speeds are available on the MB-2516?

4,000 rpm with the standard two-step gear spindle and 6,000 rpm with the optional one, listed as 4,000/6,000 rpm(OPT.). Power is 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp).

04 How fast does the MB-2516 traverse?

15 m/min on X, Y and Z. The longer MB-3016 lists 12 m/min for X and Y and 15 m/min for Z. Cutting feed is 1-7,000 mm/min on both.
