Overview

The Victor Taichung Vturn-A260/75 is the 10 in chuck member of the A series, with an A2-8 main spindle at 3,500 rpm, Ø75 mm (Ø2.95 in) bar capacity and a turning length of up to 950 mm (37.40 in). It comes in the same five configurations as the smaller Vturn-A200/60, but its second spindle is a different proposition.

Here the sub-spindle is a full 8 in unit: an A2-6 nose, 5,000 rpm and Ø52 mm (Ø2.04 in) through the bore. It is listed in the SM, SCM and YSCM columns. A sub-spindle of that size can take over a real share of the work, so second operations on chucked parts are practical and not only bar pick-off. Victor Taichung captions the YSCM as Y-axis plus sub-spindle plus C-axis with a BMT turret.

The columns differ in more than spindles, and the table needs careful reading. Maximum turning diameter is Ø480 mm (Ø18.89 in) for the SM and Ø420 mm (Ø16.53 in) for the other four. Turning length is 950 mm (37.40 in) for the SM, YCM and YSCM and 910 mm (35.82 in) for the CM and SCM. Shank size is □20 mm on the SM and □25 mm elsewhere. The CM and YCM have an M.T. #5 tailstock quill.

Weights follow the equipment: 6,500 kg (14,330.02 lb) for the CM up to 7,500 kg (16,534.64 lb) for the YSCM. All five have a 12-tool turret.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 8 in sub-spindle with 5,000 rpm and Ø52 mm (Ø2.04 in) bar capacity in three configurations
  • Ø75 mm (Ø2.95 in) main bar capacity on an A2-8 nose with a 10 in chuck
  • Up to 950 mm (37.40 in) of turning length
  • YSCM configuration combines Y axis, sub-spindle and C axis
  • 12-tool turret in every configuration

Limitations

  • Maximum turning diameter is Ø420 mm (Ø16.53 in) in four of the five columns
  • CM and SCM are listed with 910 mm (35.82 in) of turning length, less than the other three columns
  • Sub-spindle columns list no tailstock quill
  • Main spindle speed is 3,500 rpm
