Price estimate
We do not have a price for the STV CNC SparX PRO 8 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A full 4 x 8 sheet drops straight onto the STV CNC SparX PRO 8: the cutting envelope is 8 ft x 4 ft. This is the welded-frame version of the SparX, delivered built and ready to level, in the size most steel suppliers treat as their standard sheet, so material goes from the rack to the slats without a shear in between.
Nothing is bolted together by the owner. The open tubular frame, its leg supports and the pan support beams are welded, and the water table is one welded pan 3 in deep, so there are no silicone joints to leak. STV CNC rates it for 2 in steel plate. The extruded aluminum gantry clears 5.75 in and carries 5.5 in of Z travel on a ball lead screw. Three stepper motors work through a belt-driven 3:1 gear reduction, which STV CNC credits with smoother arcs and circles, and the stated motion accuracy is about 0.002 in per 12 in with a step resolution of plus or minus 0.0005 in. Rack and pinion with linear guides moves both gantry and table, and carriage shields keep splash off the bearings.
Plan the floor around the sheet, not only the table. STV CNC lists the occupied area as about 10 ft x 6 ft x 5 ft, and a 4 x 8 sheet needs clear space on the loading side as well. The pan under the slats holds about 87 gallons of water. The table weighs 1,450 lb. A full sheet of thicker plate is too heavy to slide on by hand, so think about a hoist or roller support for the loading side before the first heavy job.
MyPlasmCNC is the standard control: downloadable software on a Windows PC that the owner provides, connected to the control box by USB. STV CNC describes it as a basic system and offers its Optimum CNC control as an upgrade with a dedicated Linux mini PC. Homing is automatic through 3 proximity sensors. Torch height control, an E-stop, a magnetic breakaway and collision, ohmic and material detection sensors are all on the base table, which runs wet or dry. No plasma cutter is included.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Welded frame and a single welded water pan: no owner assembly and no sealed pan joints
- 3 stepper motors with a 3:1 gear reduction; stated motion accuracy of about 0.002 in per 12 in
- Automatic homing kit with 3 proximity sensors and gantry carriage shields are standard
- 8 ft x 4 ft envelope takes a full 4 x 8 sheet without pre-cutting
Limitations
- Ships fully built on a flatbed, and a forklift is required at delivery to unload it
- The base control is MyPlasmCNC on a customer-supplied Windows PC; the Optimum CNC control is an upgrade
- Needs about 10 ft x 6 ft x 5 ft of floor plus sheet-loading space

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. The cutting envelope is 8 ft x 4 ft, which is a full 4 x 8 sheet. The table is rated for steel plate up to 2 in thick and occupies about 10 ft x 6 ft x 5 ft.
02
MyPlasmCNC is standard. It is downloadable software that runs on a Windows PC supplied by the owner, connected by USB. STV CNC offers an upgrade to its Optimum CNC control system, which comes with a Linux mini PC that has the software pre-installed and is dedicated to running the table.
03
The table electronics run on 110 V. The plasma cutter is separate and has its own supply requirement. The water pan holds about 87 gallons and is 3 in deep; the table can be run wet or dry.
04
It runs wet or dry. The water table is a single welded pan 3 in deep with interchangeable 1.5 in flat bar slats, and on this model it holds about 87 gallons. Ohmic sensing is provided for material detection, including when cutting dry.
