Soraluce FS 8000

The Soraluce FS 8000 is the quicker, lighter-spindled machine of Soraluce's long-travel family: rapid traverse is 35,000 mm/min, a milling head change takes 60 seconds and the spindle is a 40 or 60 kW unit at 100% ED. X travel starts at 4,000 mm with no upper limit listed, Y is 3,600 or 4,000 mm and Z is 1,600 mm.

Set beside the FR 8000 the trade is plain. The FR 8000 offers spindle power up to 101 kW and torque up to 10,907 Nm but moves at 25,000 mm/min, while the FS 8000 tops out at 60 kW and 4,480 Nm with rapids 40% higher. Feed force is 20,000 N against up to 35,000 N on the FR 8000. That profile suits work where time goes into positioning and finishing passes across a long part more than into deep roughing cuts.

Torque comes in three ratings, 900, 2,000 or 4,480 Nm, and maximum speed is 6,000 or 7,000 rpm on ISO 50 or HSK 100. The table does not say which torque goes with which speed or with which of the two power ratings, so ask for the pairing in writing. Magazines are listed with 40, 60, 80, 100 or 120 pockets.

The head list covers a universal milling head, an orthogonal milling head, an angle milling head, a horizontal milling attachment and a quill of 130 or 150 mm in diameter. The quill option is listed as a W axis of 700 or 800 mm together with a Z-axis figure of 1,000 mm, and the table does not explain how the two combine, so have that clarified before relying on either number. Coolant is by spray ring and internal supply (IKZ) up to 70 bar. Controls are Heidenhain TNC 640 or TNC7, or Siemens Sinumerik One.
