Sodick VL600QH — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Sodick VL600QH that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Sodick or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Sodick VL600QH is a tall-Z wire EDM: 23.62 in (600 mm) of X, 15.75 in (400 mm) of Y and 19.69 in (500 mm) of Z. That Z stroke is the reason to choose it. The other 600-size Sodick machines here stop at 13.78 in (350 mm) on the ALC600G, AL600P and ALN600G, and at 12.20 in (310 mm) on the VN600Q.

A 500 mm stroke opens up thick work that a standard-height machine cannot reach: deep extrusion dies, stacked plates cut in one pass, tall blocks for punches and form tools. Keep in mind that the table gives no taper angle. U/V travel is 3.54 in × 3.54 in (90 × 90 mm), and on a thick part that stroke buys a smaller angle than it would on a thin one, so ask Sodick what angle is reachable at your thickness before relying on taper in tall work.

Apart from Z, the working figures match the VN600Q. The work tank is 40.94 in × 30.71 in (1040 × 780 mm), workpieces can weigh up to 1,874 lb (850 kg), wire runs from 0.004 in to 0.012 in (0.10 to 0.30 mm) and the table is 36.61 in (930 mm) off the floor. Both machines are listed at 7,275 lb (3,300 kg), against 10,141 lb (4,600 kg) for the ALC600G.

The height shows up in the building. The VL600QH needs 118.89 in × 102.56 in (3,020 × 2,605 mm) of floor and stands 100.0 in (2,540 mm) tall, against 81.89 in (2,080 mm) for the VN600Q. Check door openings and overhead clearance, including any crane path, on the delivery route.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 19.69 in (500 mm) of Z travel, against 13.78 in (350 mm) on the ALC600G and 12.20 in (310 mm) on the VN600Q
  • 23.62 in (600 mm) by 15.75 in (400 mm) X/Y with a 40.94 in × 30.71 in (1040 × 780 mm) work tank
  • Workpieces up to 1,874 lb (850 kg)
  • Machine weight of 7,275 lb (3,300 kg), the same as the VN600Q despite the taller Z
  • Wire from 0.004 in to 0.012 in (0.10 to 0.30 mm) and 3.54 in × 3.54 in (90 × 90 mm) of U/V travel

Limitations

  • Stands 100.0 in (2,540 mm) tall, which may not clear low doors or ceilings
  • Footprint of 118.89 in × 102.56 in (3,020 × 2,605 mm) is wider than the VN600Q at 103.15 in (2,620 mm)
  • No taper angle is listed; the 90 × 90 mm (3.54 in × 3.54 in) U/V stroke gives less angle on tall parts
  • Workpiece weight stays at 1,874 lb (850 kg), so a tall part of large plan area may hit the weight limit before the Z limit

Best For

Thick dies and blocks up to 500 mm (19.69 in) of Z Cutting stacked plates in one setup Tall punches and form tools within 600 × 400 mm (23.62 × 15.75 in) Workpieces up to 850 kg (1,874 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much Z travel does the VL600QH have?

19.69 in (500 mm). On the same 600 by 400 mm X/Y, the ALC600G, AL600P and ALN600G list 13.78 in (350 mm) and the VN600Q lists 12.20 in (310 mm), so the VL600QH is the one to look at for thick work.

02 Is the VL600QH just a VN600Q with more Z?

On the listed figures the two share X and Y travel, the 40.94 in × 30.71 in (1040 × 780 mm) tank, the 1,874 lb (850 kg) workpiece limit, the wire range, the U/V stroke and the 7,275 lb (3,300 kg) weight. The VL600QH adds Z, 19.69 in (500 mm) against 12.20 in (310 mm) on the VN600Q, and a larger footprint.

03 What taper can it cut on a tall part?

The table lists 3.54 in × 3.54 in (90 × 90 mm) of U/V travel and no angle. The angle a given U/V stroke reaches falls as part height rises, so ask Sodick for the reachable angle at the thickness you plan to cut.

04 What space does it need?

118.89 in × 102.56 in × 100.0 in (3,020 × 2,605 × 2,540 mm) and a floor rated for 7,275 lb (3,300 kg). Check the 2,540 mm height against door openings and any overhead crane. The table is 36.61 in (930 mm) from the floor.
