Overview
Twelve feet of table is what the Onsrud 146S adds to the S-Series: 144 in (3,658 mm) in X by 60 in (1,524 mm) in Y, moving under the fixed bridge. The spindle is the series standard, 18 hp (13.4 kW) at up to 24,000 rpm.
It is the first S-Series model with 3 vacuum zones. It is also, oddly, a narrower machine than the 122S, at 138 in (3,506 mm) wide, though much longer at 309 in (7,849 mm). Height is 99 in (2,515 mm).
Long tables on a fixed-bridge machine make sense for parts that are long and need real cutting force along their whole length: stair stringers, door components, aluminum rails, thick plastic sheet. A moving gantry of similar table size is easier to place, but here the cutting loads go into a bridge that does not move.
An 11 in (279 mm) Z-stroke is standard and 12 tools are carried. The option list covers a 24 hp (17.9 kW) spindle, a second spindle, a second tool changer and Z-strokes of 16 in (406 mm) and 28 in (711 mm). The 146SW6 is the wider version of this table, for six-foot sheet.
