How much does the Kinetic K5000 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Kinetic K5000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A CAT 50 spindle on a plasma gantry is the short description of the Kinetic K5000. It is the top model of the moving-gantry combination line, listed for high-production drilling up to a 4 in (102 mm) hole, tapping up to a 2-1/16 in (52 mm) hole and boring to 8 in (203 mm), next to plasma cutting up to 4 in (102 mm) thick and oxy fuel up to 8 in (203 mm) thick.
The 50-taper spindle is the reason to choose it. Heavy plate tends to carry large holes, and here the largest drilled hole is as big as the thickest plate the plasma is rated for. The K4000, by comparison, drills to 2 in (51 mm) and bores to 6 in (152 mm) on a CAT 40 spindle. Kinetic lists the same 24 tool stations and the same automated tool change in under 3 seconds on this machine, plus through-spindle coolant and auto tool height measurement.
Table dimensions follow the rest of the line: up to 18 ft (5.49 m) wide and up to 200 ft (60.96 m) long, with a downdraft table, a self-cleaning design and travelling dross bins. Up to 2 independently driven plasma torches can be fitted on the lifter stations.
Two derivatives are built on this model, and they are worth knowing before ordering. The K5200 is this machine configured for an automated part removal system. The K5600 keeps the machining figures but pulls the plate through a stationary gantry. A buyer who expects to add unloading later should raise it at the quoting stage, since Kinetic lists both the automated part removal system and pass-through table technology as options here.
What the published material leaves out is spindle power, torque and speed. For a machine bought to drill 4 in (102 mm) holes those are the next questions to put to Kinetic.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- CAT 50 spindle, the largest taper in the line, with 24 tool stations
- High-production drilling up to a 4 in (102 mm) hole and tapping up to a 2-1/16 in (52 mm) hole
- Boring to 8 in (203 mm), against 6 in (152 mm) on the K4000
- Plasma up to 4 in (102 mm) thick and oxy fuel up to 8 in (203 mm) thick, with plasma, oxy fuel and triple oxy beveling listed
- Automated tool changes in under 3 seconds and auto tool height measurement
Limitations
- Spindle power, torque and speed are not published, which matters most on the model sold for the largest holes
- Traverse speed is 800 in/min (20.3 m/min), the same as the smaller models
- The automated part removal system is an option here; the K5200 is the version configured for it
- Large CAT 50 tooling shares 24 tool stations, the same count the smaller models have

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Kinetic lists high-production drilling up to a 4 in (102 mm) hole. Tapping is listed up to a 2-1/16 in (52 mm) hole and boring to 8 in (203 mm). Larger diameters are produced by interpolated milling, which the capability list gives as any diameter.
02
For the spindle. The K5000 has a CAT 50 spindle and is listed for drilling to 4 in (102 mm) and tapping to 2-1/16 in (52 mm). The K4000 has a CAT 40 spindle and is listed for drilling to 2 in (51 mm) and tapping to 1 in (25 mm). Plasma and oxy fuel thickness and table size are identical.
03
Kinetic says the K5200 is identical to the K5000 but comes configured for the addition of its automated part removal system. The K5200 table is listed up to 16 ft (4.88 m) wide, where the K5000 is listed up to 18 ft (5.49 m) wide.
04
The available cutting heads list names Hypertherm HPR800XD for stainless steel applications, HPR400XD, XPR460, XPR300 and XPR170. Oxy fuel cutting, plasma bevel cutting, oxy fuel bevel cutting and multi torch cutting are in the same list.
05
A 19 in (483 mm) LCD touchscreen, which Kinetic lists for fast setup and easy control. Automated tooling alerts and auto tool height measurement are part of the feature list for the machining side.
